Boehner Cut Deal With Pelosi to Avoid Government Shutdown
breitbart.com ^ | 9/25/15 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Sources tell Breitbart News that several members of the House of Representatives are saying “the rumor is Boehner cut a deal with Pelosi.”

According to those sources, outgoing House Speaker Rep. John Boehner and Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi agreed that her Democratic caucus would join Boehner along with a handful of Boehner loyalists and moderate establishment Republicans to continue Planned Parenthood funding, along with a few other budget items President Obama says were must-haves, in order to avoid a Government shutdown.

Boehner resigned because he knew that after he cut that deal, conservatives in his own party would be so furious with him that it would make challenges to his Speakership a certainty, sources say. Even if he survived those challenges, his remaining year and three months in office would be contentious and personally uncomfortable for him.

One source specifically said that the deal was limited to a continuing resolution that would last only until December 11.

Boehner’s last day as Speaker and member of the House of Representatives is slated for October 30.

Boehner reportedly knew that cutting such a deal to avoid a shutdown would result in a brutal battle with conservatives in his own party. He felt he could win challenges to his leadership mounted by conservatives in his own party, but thought it might do damage to the House and the Republican Party, sources say.

I hear he’s banging Renee Ellmers, R from NC

Au contraire...The open secret is that she is in an affair with Majority Leader of the house Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield, CA.

Then that needs to be brought to light, as they (RINO’s) are putting McCarthy up as the heir apparent.

Yeah, he quit for the PARTY. The cocktail party.

AND HERE IS HIS THEME SONG, LIKELY WRITTEN BY HIS WIFE:

I came crawling home last night, like many nights before:
I finally made it to my feet as she opened up the door.
And she said, "You're not gonna do this anymore."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

She said: "Just bring your Friday paycheck, and I'll cash them all right here.
"And I'll keep on tap - for all your friends, their favorite kinds of beer.
"And for you, I'll always keep in stock, those soft aluminum cans.
"And when you're feeling macho, you can crush them like a man."

She said: "We'll rip out all the carpet, and put sawdust on the floor.
"Serve hard boiled eggs and pretzels, and I won't cook no more.
"There'll be Monday night football, on T.V. above the bar.
"And a pay phone in the hallway, when your friends can't find their car."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

She said: "You'll get friendly service, and for added atmosphere.
"I'll slip on something sexy, and I'll cut it clear to here.
"Then you can slap my bottom, every time you tell a joke.
"Just as long as you keep tipping, well, I'll laugh until you're broke."

She said: "Instead of family quarrels, we'll have a bar-room brawl,
"When the Ham's bear say's its closing time, you won't have far to crawl.
"And when you run out of money, you'll have me to thank.
"You can sleep it off next morning, when I'm putting it in the bank."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino, to decorate our home,
"So you can feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"When you and your friends get off from work, and have a powerful thirst.
"There won't be any reason, why you can't stop off here first."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

Sorry for my ignorance here ( I’ve been really busy at work), but are you saying the current bill fully funds the gov’t and takes PP money and gives it to other clinics that actually do some good? What’s wrong with that? Does it need 60 votes in the Senate to pass? If not, why not just pass the bill and let BHO veto it?

Sad indeed.

Understand that time & again, the fight from the left & center (& much of the not-far right) is fiercely against cutting ANYTHING. Just reducing the standard rate of increase in spending induces hysteria & rage.

Indeed, our starting point should be nothing short of straight-up balanced budget. We’re not facing an existential threat, so there is no reason for spending to be no more than revenue. Should BHO (or whoever is POTUS) reject it for not spending more, make clear we’re happy to negotiate what gets cut and what gets funded - so long as revenue exceeds spending, period, discussion stops there, yes we’re willing to shut the whole thing down (no “paid furlough”) if we can’t agree on that under the best of conditions.

They won’t “just pass the bill and let BHO veto it” because BHO will point fingers and accuse the Right of “shutting down the government” until they cave out of confused embarrassment.
We need a Speaker who will stand up and say “no, YOU are shutting it down - we gave you everything but this single small item, and YOU are throwing a hissy fit over not getting something disgusting & repulsive!”

What is the bar to the House passing a budget, with everything except funding for PP? Does the budget need 60 votes in the Senate? If not, you can pass a budget and avoid a shutdown (a bad idea, as a shutdown is just what the Dems want) and cut PP out in the process.

Don't know. I got that information from NM Congressman Steve Pearce.

On these facts, where PP money is given to other real clinics, let BHO point fingers. I agree with your conclusions.

We should not live in fear of a BHO veto on this or any legislation of importance.

Thanks.

The simple reason is fear.

Democrats have, thanks to the MSM and activist groups operating widely throughout social media, the ability to control the narrative.

It doesn’t matter that it would be Obama shutting down the government. Apart from a few voices crying out in the wilderness (ie us), the drumbeat would be that it’s all the Republicans’ fault. And given the ability of the Left to dominate and control the narrative, chances are decent it would work.

Of course there’s also a decent chance that if the GOP dug in and held it’s ground it wouldn’t work. Especially with Trump out there cheerleading it.
So fear and cowardace.

Budget passes on simple majority of both houses, thanks to “Reconciliation” in the Senate.

This, however, is NOT the budget but appropriations. So the Senate can still filibuster.

Boehner was inspired by the visit of Pope Francis, and decided it was his duty to resign in order to do what was right for the Congress and the country.

Good additional point: it’s not that the money isn’t being spent on good things, it’s that it’s not telling someone not to use the money for bad and then giving them the money anyway knowing it’s what they do. We’re happy to fund women’s healthcare, and do so.
