Boehner Cut Deal With Pelosi to Avoid Government Shutdown
breitbart.com ^ | 9/25/15 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Sources tell Breitbart News that several members of the House of Representatives are saying “the rumor is Boehner cut a deal with Pelosi.”

According to those sources, outgoing House Speaker Rep. John Boehner and Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi agreed that her Democratic caucus would join Boehner along with a handful of Boehner loyalists and moderate establishment Republicans to continue Planned Parenthood funding, along with a few other budget items President Obama says were must-haves, in order to avoid a Government shutdown.

Boehner resigned because he knew that after he cut that deal, conservatives in his own party would be so furious with him that it would make challenges to his Speakership a certainty, sources say. Even if he survived those challenges, his remaining year and three months in office would be contentious and personally uncomfortable for him.

One source specifically said that the deal was limited to a continuing resolution that would last only until December 11.

Boehner’s last day as Speaker and member of the House of Representatives is slated for October 30.

Boehner reportedly knew that cutting such a deal to avoid a shutdown would result in a brutal battle with conservatives in his own party. He felt he could win challenges to his leadership mounted by conservatives in his own party, but thought it might do damage to the House and the Republican Party, sources say.

I believe he was molested by a Catholic priest when he was an altar boy. THAT is why he cries all the time. Issues (including alcoholism) stemming from his childhood, just like petulant 0dungo.

Boehner should just retire from congress all together. He will still be part of the buddy club known as the GOPe leadership club.

He is a relic like most of the others.

I think he is retiring from his house seat as well as the speakership.

I, for one, am tired of the omni/cromni-bus bills, stuffed to the gills w/ favors to this-n-that with little to NO debate or exposure to the public, for whom must PAY.

Return to passing a bill for EACH AND EVERY department, minus 10%.

Then we can say “Decide what/where is more important. XYZ or PP/PBS/etc.”

If they had a PAIR the share, I’d then adjourn, leave town and say “We passed the budget as the Constitution requires.”

Alas, we all know Pelosi has a bigger set.

Sad that on FR one hears the call to say “...we gave BHO EVERYTHING...” as a STARTING point for the leadership.

If the bar is THAT low, what does it matter whom takes the Weeper’s place?!

Where are the individual bills? Where is the CUT in each of those bills? There is/was the BATTLE vs. DEMs to have them debate and VOTE on said bills?

As usual, and EXPECTED, we had D.C. pissing away their advantage to run out the clock for the next ‘crisis’ inside the beltway.

That would be the right thing to do but I have only read, so far, that he is stepping down as speaker. His horrible legacy is going to go well beyond the end of Oct. if they pass the CR. For Boehner it is one more for the road so why not make it extra special and spend even more and more.

This man is a disgrace. Everything he said in his letter regarding his resignation is just a lie. He didn’t do any of what he mentioned.

Boehner speaks rather confidently the name of Kevin McCarthy as the next Speaker, but adds “if he is elected”.

Boehner is in very bad shape? What is the matter with him? He is having a nervous breakdown nearly every other sentence, and absolutely wearing his mouth out screwing it up.

IS he an alcoholic? I have never heard that rumor supported by respectable news sources. But, something is wrong when incoherency is your leading personal characteristic.

I know of men following heart surgeries who are increasingly emotional, as an after effect.

Also, he mentions his family, but speaks only of his daughters. Expectations are that if he stays in DC, he will join a lobbying group. Great.

I can’t stand him either. Still, i have seen four or five reports that he is resigning his seat as well as the speakership. Hope it is true.

Why are we funding PP in the first place?

Because Obama said he would veto it if it doesn't have PP funding, and McConnell and Boehner said ok then, we'll fund it. At some point, it's clear they are on the other side, and just playing a little dance with their voters.

What is the bar to the House passing a budget, with everything except funding for PP? Does the budget need 60 votes in the Senate? If not, you can pass a budget and avoid a shutdown (a bad idea, as a shutdown is just what the Dems want) and cut PP out in the process.

It's my understanding that the house bill fully funded the government, did not fund PP, but instead, took the money slated for PP, and spread it around to other clinics that actually did real good for women, and not abortions. No cut in overall funding.

Love your post. Wish that Trump would stand up and ask President Obama why giving taxpayer money to an organization that already makes money selling our babies’ limbs and organs is so important!!!

“once he heard the Pope was coming to DC he DELAYED HIS RETIREMENT JUST SO HE COULD MEET THE POPE”

In the ‘80s I could’ve had front-row seats to see the pope when he came to Alaska. But I had to wash my hair.
