When Donald Trump walked on to the presidential debate stage on August 6, he walked into a trap.
Bret Baier began with a question designed to make sure every one of its viewers knew that Trump, and Trump alone, was refusing to rule out a campaign as an independent. He asked broadly if "anyone on stage" with that view would raise his hand, and once Trump did so, Baier hammered his heresy home: "Mr. Trump to be clear, youre standing on a Republican primary debate stage. The place where the RNC will give the nominee the nod. And that experts say an independent run would almost certainly hand the race over to Democrats and likely another Clinton."
Minutes later, Megyn Kelly informed the audience that Trump was a sexist. "Youve called women you dont like 'fat pigs,' 'dogs,' 'slobs,' and 'disgusting animals,'" she said. "Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?"
Then, Chris Wallace suggested that Trump was full of it on his marquee issue pointing out that Trump had "repeatedly said" he had evidence that the Mexican government is intentionally sending criminals across the border, but "refused or declined" to share it. "Why not use this first Republican presidential debate to share your proof with the American people?" Wallace asked....

“Political scientists think “the party” will stop Trump.”
Well, if they do, I’m done voting. I’ve voted in every election since 1970, but if that happens, I’m done. Not gonna vote for “the lesser of two evils” when both are evil, and am not going to vote for any Uniparty candidate, no matter which side of the political coin their picture is on.
I completely agree.
Trump is the ONLY politician saying America needs to re-industrialize.
We need a president like this. Very much.
“Political scientists think “the party” will stop Trump. They shouldn’t be so sure.”
Right, because every good Republican/conservative seems to love a Democrat liberal Clintonista (my spell checker thinks the word should be ‘Stalinist’ ... !) in sheep’s clothing. Trump only targets Republicans/conservatives for his whinny ire.
Before he’s done, Trump will make Hillary look good to most voters. Which is the point ...
It doesn't matter what these so called political scientist think they know, when it comes down to it, they don't know crap....
We are running this race, and like the article said, we are wild zoo animals running around Georgia....yep we are and don't get in our way....
I like Ted Cruz, and have respect for Ben Carson, nothing to do with Carly, I hope Babs Boxer comes out with some more dirt on her, but my whole support is behind Trump....
Faculty adviser to student: "Which science would that be?'"
"Well, political science."
Faculty advisor: "Son, political science is not science."
As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.
Regarding GOPe, I think that partriots are slowly but surely wising up to major problems with the corrupt, post-17th Amendmnent ratification Senate that lets lawless presidents do anything that they want to do, Trump a threat to the Senate-controlled Washington cartel imo.
The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt Senators and the lawless presidents that they protect along with them.
If “the party” stops Trump, I will just write him in. The GOP is no longer even close to representing me.
“The Party” is a lot like Fox News.
A bit too high an opinion of themselves.
Myself I haven’t turned Fox News on since their “debate”. That was a fiasco. The GOP seems equally disconnected sometimes.
On the bright side, Trump just may win anyway. :D
Santorum has been saying that since the last primary.
The voting machines at my precinct are touch screens. :/
Political science” is an oxymoron
Political scientists think the party will stop Trump.
I really don’t appreciate the escaped animals. Most Trump supporters I’ve spoke with were really well-informed, with deliberate reasoning behind their voting choices.
Mine too. With no paper tape backup for the past 2 elections. Not sure why I’ll bother to vote in the future. Seems like a total waste of gas and my time.
‘...in sheeps clothing.’ Yup. Just like nearly every DC Republican who’s been elected in the last few election cycles. Gutless and spineless. But we’ve been told they are the lesser of two evils, a terminal cancer or devastating heart attack choice. Many are saying NO more and are willing to chance the possible devil’s bastard to change things. Those changes may not happen if Trump is elected, however we know for certain that NOTHING will change with the current Uniparty choices.
Some of my friends from school went into poli sci. They are pretty sure that the GOP would rather give the election to Sanders or Biden than to Trump.
They also tell me that no matter what the rules are for the convention, if Trump has won the primary they will not allow him to get the nomination.
Of course, that will drive many away from the party, but that is considered a good thing.
it’s not who gets the most votes that wins. It’s who counts the votes that determine the winner.
I think your friends are right. The party poohbahs would sooner burn it to the ground than let us elect anyone who would stop The Cheap Labor Express.
If they pull something, it will be the end of the GOP.
