Ted Cruz was on The Late Show with Steven Colbert and the first part of the interview was pretty light-hearted. The second part is when Colbert really started playing to his liberal crowd, even trying to stump Ted Cruz on Ronald Reagan. Gay marriage also came up and Cruz had to set Colbert straight (no pun intended) on his policy position when it comes to gay marriage.
I think Cruz came across as kind and down to earth. I think that’s good because he has been painted as a crazed meanie by the media. I think it went well.
Yep, good basic take on this.
“Why should we let 5 unelected lawyers make law for the whole country. I think even the liberal audience agreed on that.”
I’m guessing a bunch of them heard “Lawyers!? Yeah - I hate lawyers. Greedy white guys!” And of course they made no connection with these “lawyers” to the supreme court. But that is good on Cruz to say it like it really is - just five people making up the law.

Ted Cruz auditions for the Simpsons. Even has your “excellent” phrase in there.
I had no Idea he did that. ;-) makes me all ooshy gooshy inside....
Go Ted..... Go Trump..... Go tear down these GOPe DNCe Corruptocrats!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you have the makings of a great president in this man. Even Trump, whatever his strong points, is no match, and I am very hopeful that Ted Cruz will prevail. While it would be better than nothing to see him on a ticket with Trump, I know that America would be set on a much better path under the leadership of Ted Cruz.
A president who knows the Constitution and honors it would be the foundation for national recovery. The stakes are that high — comes the hour, comes the man.
I wish he had rebuked Colbert on Reagen and amnesty. Yes, Reagen signed an amnesty bill. However, that was only half of the deal. The other was securing the borders with the construction of a fence. Congress reneged on that part of the deal. Also, in the law that Reagen signed, the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, it specifically lays out the rules for issuing SS cards or ID cards to immigrants. It requires 2 years notice to Congress and congressional review - all of which Obama has violated
Thanks for testing that as I have no desire to do so myself and will take your word for taking one for the team!
That being said, Cruz is my #1 and Trump is my #2, but IMO, Trump is far more electable than Cruz, so I think a Trump/Cruz ticket for 2016/2020 would pave the way for Cruz in 2024/2028

Agree on all points. These kind of appearances may be less than dignified and Presidential, but Cruz in particular has been widely vilified as some sort of drooling cretinous Westboro Christian arch-nemesis. Appearances like this let Joe and Jana Average see that (a) Cruz doesn’t actually have horns, and (b) hey, he’s kinda nice and makes a lot of sense. So I hope he’ll do them whenever he gets a reasonably welcoming venue.
That said, when the audience booed Cruz as he explained to them that issues not specified by the Constitution are therefore reserved to the States, it made me hang my head. Good God, what has this country become? Does anyone at all care about the Constitution but us and Cruz?
Agreed. Good showing by Cruz.
Plausibly, Cruz could have argued Reagan compromised too much, and allowed too much spending, leading to tax increases whose effects eventually lead to recession and sank Bush 1.
Still, having “every answer” on tap, live, with an unfriendly audience, has to be VERY tough. It’ll be interesting to see how Trump does.
I know what you mean... To his credit, Cruz stuck with his point, and I think at least some of the audience understood, or at least respected it.
why bother going on these leftist shows during the primary?? Conservatives aren’t their target viewer.
I hope Cruz rewarded himself for enduring that idiot colbert.

Why do they give this low intelligence jerk the time of daY? Colbert is a waste of oxygen.
They signal the audience when something is supposed to be funny and the audience then applauds or laughs so that the viewers at home know as well.
Colbert said:
“HOWEVER YOU FEEL, HE’S MY GUEST SO PLEASE DONT BOO HIM...”
What’s not fair about that?
Cruz was too smart for him. colbert was out of his league, but polite and to his credit told the audience to stop booing his guest.
Cruz got some claps at the end talking about the constitution.
I like trump but he is not Cruz. I fear colbert will fluster and agitate Trump into saying God knows what.
