Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says Islam is antithetical to the Constitution, and he doesn't believe that a Muslim should be elected president.
Carson, a devout Christian, says a president's faith should matter to voters if it runs counter to the values and principles of America.
Responding to a question during an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," he described the Islamic faith as inconsistent with the Constitution.
"I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation," Carson said. "I absolutely would not agree with that."
[snip] Carson's comments came amid lingering fallout over Republican Donald Trump's refusal last week to take issue with a man during a campaign event who wrongly called President Barack Obama a Muslim and said Muslims are "a problem in this country."

Did you vote third party or did you vote for the Republican Nominee? Tell the truth
It depends on whether Trump is on the Republican ballot next year. Prior to that, always Republican, although (literally) holding my nose the past two elections.
By the way, I have about 20,000 posts here - I challenge you to find a SINGLE POSTING outside of this election cycle where I’ve either said that I voted Third Party, or encouraged ANYONE ELSE to do that.
It would be a GOOD IDEA if you CHECK before you go around ACCUSING or IMPLYING people here of being trolls.
I always vote for the nominee.
I have held my nose too, in one general election when I voted for Bush41 but have actually not regretted voting for him. One thing for sure. I have never voted for a rat candidate and never will
“One thing for sure. I have never voted for a rat candidate and never will”
I’m not sure that I ever did accuse you of undercutting conservatism - you’re one of the top posters here. I was just noting that Carson sitting out an election cycle is basically giving half a vote to the Democrat.
But to correct myself a bit, I have voted for Democrats at the state level in Texas, just to try to stop Perry, who was an ABSOLUTE LOSER here.
Yes, the point was the media does not go after him and other black leaders because they cannot charge them with racism for their opinions.
