Comsider that in general, (SE) Asians have a higher IQ than whites, but whites have more people at the higher and lower ends of the IQ bell curve (genius/retardation levels). I think that IQs somewhat above the “average” are your very smart software programmers, etc, and more likely to conform to working in high-end jobs. The ones at either end of the curve-the geniuses and retards-are the ones who “think outside the box” (on both ends), and don’t fit into society-if they are disicplined enough or focussed enough or have whatever X factor it takes, they are the ones who lead through doors the rest of us would never consider (that can be for better or for worse, of course).
Exactly. People act like IQ correlates with character worth or something. There are people in this world who are smarter than other people, and IQ is the best way we’ve yet found to quantify that, and the factor of intelligence is hugely influential on a given society’s structure (in combination with morality, work ethic, the overall discipline of a given group, etc).
Thank you. If all that the really, really intelligent people in this world did was to sit around and talk about themselves, we’d never have gone to the moon or split the atom.

That’s my thought on the matter, actually, and automation is making a whole lot of people even more “expendable”, in that aspect.
If I had to bet money, however, I would bet that there are many, many more people of below-average IQ whose lives are at best futile, in an earthly sense, if not disasters. It’s the lower IQ people doing the most out-of-wedlock, fatherless home, breeding. And generally speaking, when “selecting” a sex partner (ie, potential father/mother of a child, I say “selecting” advisedly), they didn’t factor in intelligence as even one of their criteria.

The test admits it is based on _American_ blacks. IMO there’d have been much different results had it been limited to Canadian or Brazilian blacks, Jamaicans, Senegalese, Angolans, etc.
I mentioned in one of my posts that I.Q. is not everything. What I meant is that being smart does not necessarily make one able to function well among society.
My son-in-law is such an example. My daughter met him in L.A. where they each were visiting. Soon they wanted to get married. He living in a Kansas small town brought out the stereotypes in our minds, as we are Californians and thought Kansas people were probably farm hicks. When we went to Kansas it was a shock. Their family is rich. They're white, of course. But anything but hicks. The parents were smart inventors and made a fortune. They encouraged their kids to be self-motivated. Each one was smart and more or less became their own bosses and were successful and rich. However, they were very dysfunctional. Smart, but couldn't function well with each other and were weird. Definitely didn't match up against other Kansans we met.
Regarding Asians having a higher I.Q. than whites, in my experience it depends on country of origin. Japanese and Korean certainly. Lots of Chinese, not only from China but wherever Chinese have settled (Vietnam, Taiwan, etc.). But not so in many Pacific island nations such as the Philippines, have met very few bright people from there. I suppose the same case (country of origin) can be made for white people, depends on country of origin, although I haven't seen any studies of this. I have met a lot of dumb white people! (The low end of that bell curve.) Oddly enough, the numbers of dumb whites increasing have corresponded to the increase in numbers of Democrats.

LOL! I've met some of the strangest, most interesting, people at Mensa gatherings. Both my parents were members for a while. I joined briefly but quit paying dues. My uncle even qualified for Triple Nine, but declined that invitation.
If you can get past the self-centeredness at the general meetings and join a SIG, then you get to meet people who share your interests, and that's where the real meat of the group lies.
