This is the ad that could sink Carly Fiorina’s campaign
Washington Post ^ | 9/17/15 | Chris Cillizza

Carly Fiorina is the new "it" candidate in the Republican presidential field, following a second straight sterling debate performance at the Ronald Reagan presidential library Wednesday night.

But there was a moment in the debate that previewed a major potential weakness for Fiorina. It came when moderator Jake Tapper noted that Donald Trump had said Fiorina "ran HP into the ground" during her time as CEO. Fiorina responded, "I led Hewlett Packard through a very difficult time, the worst technology recession in 25 years," adding: "We had to make tough choices, and in doing so, we saved 80,000 jobs, went on to grow to 160,000 jobs."

Trump -- and Tapper -- largely let the issue drop. But Fiorina's past political history suggests that her struggles at HP could be a campaign killer.

In 2010, Fiorina was running surprisingly close to California Sen. Barbara Boxer (D), who was struggling in a strong election cycle for Republicans nationally. Then, Boxer ran this ad focused on Fiorina's time at the helm of HP.

The commercial notes that Fiorina laid off 30,000 workers at HP while feathering her own nest (the ad's narrator says she tripled her salary) and buying a "million-dollar yacht" and "five corporate jets." It went up on TV in the middle of September and effectively ended Fiorina's chances.

Look at this chart, via Real Clear Politics, documenting the polling averages for the entirety of the Boxer-Fiorina contest.

See how the red line starts dropping precipitously right around mid-September? That's not a coincidence. The ad functioned as a sort of knock-out punch for Boxer even in a year where Republicans claimed victories all across the country.

How many businesses does Trump own, Norseboy?

I am not a Trump hater and will vote for him if he is the Republican nominee. (just as I did McCain and Romney...and THOSE guys I hated!)

If you have a defense of his Kelo praise, please bring my attention to it.

Saying it was a good deal and she should have taken it doesn’t wash.

An unconstitutional land grab is wrong, regardless of the price.

I bet you’d find some Lois Lerner ties if you poked around.

Geez. Lerner just feloniously shared a few hundred confidential taxpeasant files with The White Mosque.

Whut's the Big Deal?

It is almost cheaper to buy an new printer that comes with ink than to buy the ink only. Next time you need ink, check it out.

Agreed.
Just like Jeb, 8 hrs of planning, 10M in ads and both are history.
Hillary then pockets the 100M she was going to spend and its a free ride for the next 8 years.

Carly is VERY vulnerable as she stabbed LOTS of people to get a job she wasn’t qualified to do.

An unconstitutional land grab is wrong, regardless of the price.

The peasants of the United States haven't owned our own land since every state except Alaska grabbed it within the last 20-30 years.

If you disagree with me, pay off your land/house mortgage, then refuse to pay your property taxes.

Three years, you'll find out who REALLY owns "your" land...

100% Truth, and you preach it well. Mrs. Fiorina has grown on me quite a bit these last few months. The targeted hatred of her by the left using their favorite tactic against conservatived women (either on looks or on attitude) makes me like her more.

Everybody relax. Carli is merely the GOP-e assigned stalking horse for Yeb. They dont really want her as nominee. They just think she can damage Trump. Once she fizzles, GOP-e will find additional stalking horses until Yeb's poll numbers improve. Of course, their strategy is doomed to fail unless they cheat. So, in the end I think GOP-e will cheat to get their boy Yeb as nominee.

That is very risky as it could fracture the party irreversably. But that's another story.

Yes. The strange thing is that Hillary is vulnerable both on looks and attitude, but that doesn’t seem to bother the left. Oh - the other thing I liked about Fiorina last night? She took on Hillary directly.

May I add to your statement and give a hint to the Rove trolls — try not insulting us! You might have more success in changing the minds of those who think Donald Trump may be our best chance of fixing the mess created by the Washington cartel. Please present a reasonable argument as to why it is in our best interest to keep the people, and their fellow insiders, who are running things now, running things. Telling us we are sheeple and Trump is a just reality show clown really isn’t working!

I do have a good defense for Donald Trump. He only did what a good businessman would do. He met with the city officials, pitched the fact that this was good for the city, it would help increase tourism, increase employment, increase tax revenues, etc. The city fathers bought the Trump’s sales pitch, agreed that it was in the best interest of the city (which it was) and invoked eminent domain, inappropriately in this instance. According to the courts, they should have said refused. Don’t blame Trump, he wanted it but he did not and could not invoke eminent domain; only the controlling governmental authority can do this. Blame the city officials who abused the laws regarding eminent domain. They are the ones responsible. Trump is only guilty of being a good businessman and a good salesman with some clever ideas and good lawyers.

she was offered two million for a dump and she stayed there .
her heirs sold the place for nothing just recently.

The Kelo dispute were people forced off there land and reimbursed poorly but she never left .

She was given a great deal of money..
I feel sorry for her heirs stuck with a worthless property now that the casinos closed down.
