McConnell on Iran Deal: 'Obama Won Short-Term Battle, But We Won the Argument'
Fox ^ | 9/11/15 | Staff

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said this morning that President Obama will win the "short-term battle" because Congress will not be able to block the Iran nuclear deal.

But he said Republicans, and the Democrats who oppose the president, have "won the argument with the American people."

"There is overwhelming opposition to the deal. The Israelis oppose the deal. Our Sunni Arab allies are nervous and apprehensive now, feeling they can't trust us anymore," he told Bill Hemmer.

McConnell said he believes the issue has a "long shelf life" and that the debate will continue until Americans "render judgment" on Election Day 2016.

McConnell said Senate Democrats have used a "procedural device" to prevent a motion of disapproval, which would then be vetoed by Obama.

House Speaker John Boehner is considering a lawsuit to stop the deal, while Sen. Ted Cruz has proposed going after U.S. banks that release money to the Iranians.

McConnell said he will explore any proposal by his fellow Republicans.

Someone please tell me exactly why McConnell and Boehner even bothered to run for office at all? It's like a general fighting to be given the position of Supreme Commander during a war- only to continue to surrender in every single battle without even bothering to fight.

We ‘won’ the argument on healthcare, on terrorism, now on Iran. We also won the battle on Washington needing to be cleaned up. Yet the opposition won the war on each issue. We have Obamacare fully functional, total capitulation on Islamic anything, a nuclear Iran, and a hopelessly corrupt Washington. Good going, Republicans.

Respectfully, he’s not forgetting you at all, he’s dismissing you. He’s saying, “when push comes to shove, who you gonna vote for, me or a Democrat?”

Guess they go to family events to meet their wives. The products vote for McConnell.

“But he said Republicans, and the Democrats who oppose the president, have “won the argument with the American people.”

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, am I to understand that they got something TANGIBLE while the American people got something INTANGIBLE? Face it: They won “hands down” and we lost our collective asses...thanks to the Republican Party and its leadership.

I’m so mad that I could bite nails into!

So, when the first Iranian nuke goes off over the US east coast, will that be winning the ‘battle’ or the ‘argument’?

The stupidity in DC is immeasurable.

I’m not saying you as I don’t know.

But no one that ever spoke the words ‘Lesser evil/No matter what’ to help elect these democrats has any right to be complaining about what their actions causes.

N O T O N E of them.

The battle is over, so it is time for Mitch to stick his little turtle head back out of his shell and look for another hill to surrender on.

I have a suggestion for Mitch McConnell: right there in your own state of Kentucky you have someone who can teach you what true courage looks like in the face of adversity; Kim Davis. Yes, God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. This lady, for all her failings, stood when everyone else bowed. It is the difference between meaningless words and actually standing for right.
