The cross tabs to this poll are fascinating and reveal an opening for any Republican candidate in 2016.
Although the poll surveyed 1000 Americans, fully 900 of them were registered voters. Some highlights:
* Clinton wins among women 44-35. Trump wins men 50-35.
* The only age group Clinton wins is the 18-34 bracket, 50-31. Trump wins the 35-49 group by 47-35; 50-64 by 50-35; and 65+ by 55-37. Guess which age groups vote the most in elections? The 50-65+ brackets.
* Trump wins the white vote by 51-34 and gets an encouraging 25% of the black vote. Hillary wins the Hispanic vote 50-31.
* Among those paying a lot of attention to politics, Trump is beating Clinton 54-36. Clinton wins among LIVs by 43-34.
Its hard to tell if these are anti-Hillary numbers or pro-Trump numbers. The usual Democratic constituencies are supporting Clinton; ditto Republicans. Trump is winning moderates and independents by small margins. Clintons war on women charge isnt resonating. And her favorables are in free fall.
The important takeaway: Trump, despite claims from establishment Republicans, isnt chasing anyone away and his style may be attracting older, established voters that are vital to Republicans for victory in 2016.

of course
they went to a small town in California and found a young female hispanic shop owner that i specifically remember
USS Iowa
Donald Trump to give national security address from USS Iowa in San Pedro, CA (Sept, 15th)
So, the RNC now needs to RALLY AROUND THE CANDIDATE WHO CAN BEAT THE DEMOCRATS.
Nope, but I'll wager they have lost quite a few that like Trump :-)
Government taking care of them.
Hey Jim. How U doing these days? Hope your health is okay. I will keep you in my prayers.
Trump or Cruz both are the only ones worth voting for.
Morlocks? More like elloi.
Doing great! Thanks.
I hope Hewitt will not be moderating any of the debates. CNN was giddy all day yesterday, having a banner on the screen “Trump stumbles.” Some, including on Fox, hoped it would be end of trump. Now this poll must have been a huge disappointment.
BTW, Pirro has been fair to Trump, said they were friends, and so has Greta, who had mentioned several positive things about him (albeit she does have Rove & Graham a little too often on her show).
The Morlocks and their self-imposed prison went down in flames. I took that to symbolize that those out of power can overthrow the tyrants.
I would....
It is still early.....and polls are just that.....and easily manipulated and are....I don’t expect Trump will slide much until the debates unless we have the same voter base now that Obamas voters were....
I’m not looking to personality vote and I think Trump is going to have it difficult down the road....no doubt he’s doing a whole heap of homework...and if not we’ll continue to see that in the debates and his rallys.
If he wins Hillary will be History and the demorats will loose.
Unfortunately he is moderating the next debate.
Sean Hannity or Mark Levine w/b much better.
Hewitt is one of the moderators at the CNN debate ahead...unless they’ve changed that.
Doubt the debate is long enough for Hannity to ask his first question.
Good list, but you’re more generous than me in your rankings.
Not to worry, the media will dig up some BS story or sex scandal to try and bury him.
It's coming, just watch.
They’ll do there damnest to “Palinize” Trump.
