Hewitt's best friend is Harvard roommate Mark Gearan, who also happens to have been President Bill Clinton's communications director. His University of Michigan Law School classmate, Anne Gust, a Democrat and wife of the California Gov. Jerry Brown (D), is another.
But his connections on the right are also deep-rooted. Just out of college, Hewitt helped a then-recently disgraced Nixon research a book, and he clerked for the likes of Judges Robert Bork, Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Scalia and Ginsburg, of course, now sit on the Supreme Court; Bork was unsuccessfully nominated. And during his tenure in the Reagan White House, Hewitt worked alongside the now-U.S. chief justice, John Roberts.
...
Hewitt show's guest line-up has already included many of the men and one woman vying for the GOP nomination in 2016. But the famed leftist constitutional scholar, lawyer and law professor, Erwin Chemerinsky -- Hewitt's colleague at the nearby University of California Irvine School of Law -- is also a show regular, as was the late Christopher Hitchens before his death in 2011.
...
It also probably does not hurt that Hewitt has a son working in the Republican National Committee's press office, has written several books and writes weekly columns for the Washington Examiner and Townhall.com.

How about Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin.
I think you’re on it!
That's Hugh. Tone deaf when it comes to the 2nd amendment as well. He thinks he is a Christian also and is an ecumenical Catholic who has fellowship with Mormon antichrists.
What fellowship does light have with darkness? He's clearly in darness.
How very Alinsky-ish FReepers have become. Except for the names of those who are the on the receiving end of the attacks, this site is becoming almost indistinguishable from DU. The world is going to hell when those who claim to be conservative have begun to emulate the slimy left whom they have rightly held in disdain. God help us to recognize that we have abandoned the high ground and joined our political opponents in the sewer.
Yes, he loves Karl Rove.
They don’t have viewpoints on the various candidates? It’s been a long while since I listened to Rush - so much time was spend on ads (profit moments) that it became oppressive to listen to.
He has been respectful and fair in his interviews with Ted Cruz.
I trust both of them to ask candidates from a conservative point of view. I don’t trust Hewitt to do that.
who cares.... 1 man 1 vote
except dems
everyone has an opinion...
I’ve been listening to Hugh Hewitt for years. for the most part, he is a very good interviewer and is a bonafide conservative.. not a moderate, in my opinion...
still a listener...
I never understood Medved’s appeal to conservatives. You have to be a total moron to think he is on our side. The other ones at least pretend to be conservative.
He is a b-list talk show host on his best days and probably on his way to the c-list now.
Hes an intelligent, reasonable, and articulate spokesperson for the conservative point of view.
....ahhh,phoewey! the albino rino has never been conservative. more of a medved conservative attacker. he is all establishment rockefeller internationalist publican and even boosts the EPA, a nixonian invention, so he can then charge to defend companies who get in the crosshairs of the EPA bureaucraps. hewey’s claim to fame is being the state sommolier, a self appointed title... he is a waste of breath and a harvard puke to boot.
ymmv
A couple months ago, after reading here from several posters that Medved had returned to his liberal roots, I decided to tune into his show for the first time in several years.
I listened to his show for a couple days. He sounded pretty conservative to me. :)
