During his press conference in New York on Thursday, Donald Trump reiterated his dedication to building a massive wall along the entire southern border of the United States with Mexico. Univision anchor Jorge Ramos thinks this idea is not merely absurd but also a complete waste of time and money.
As you can imagine, for the last few days, Ive been thinking a lot about Donald Trump and his plan to deport more than 11 million undocumented immigrants from the United States, Ramos said in a segment for his Fusion show America, following his confrontation with the GOP frontrunner a week ago.
Ramos proceeded to use a white board to literally illustrate everything that is wrong with Trumps plan. According to an estimate calculated by The New York Times, building the wall will cost $16 million per mile for a total of about $20 billion. Ramos noted that the larger border between the U.S. and Canada would remain completely open (assuming Scott Walker is not elected president).
This wall would be a complete waste of time and money, Ramos continued, citing a survey that found nearly 40% of undocumented immigrants come into the country by plane and overstay their visas (this is where Chris Christies FedEx-like tracking program comes in handy).
On top of that, Ramos noted that more immigrants are coming into the country from China than are coming from Mexico. Go figure, he said.

What?
We don’t send the people we DO find “home” now ...
What makes you think Bush or Clinton would send them home in the future?
11 million illegals? That is a joke. It’s more like 60 million.
A four lane divided highway is now only about 1 million per mile.
This “expense” is a democrat press release designed to hurt Trump, and to promote Bush. Which, in the repubbies and democrats minds, is the same thing.
There's even an easier way. Put HD cameras with night vision every half mile, pointed in both directions, and invite an army of Americans to monitor the border day and night.
Internet access with links to ICE enforcement on alert every 2 miles, 24/7/365, and buses ready for transport to the border ever 10 miles.et non parlons plus!
I would definitely volunteer, at least 20 hours a week, day or night. There must be hundreds of thousands of us who would consider it an honor to serve.
Incidentally I am a legal immigrant who arrived with two legal adults at age 9. If asked, I am an American. I became a citizen days after I qualified to apply. If further asked, I can name my country of origin with neither embarrassment nor phony arrogant macho hostile pride.
It;s kind boxy, but it supposed to be a Loach...

“...citing a survey that found nearly 40% of undocumented immigrants come into the country by plane...”
I cannot think of any endeavour where a 60% improvement would not be considered worth it.
I think the Israeli barrier was closer to $2 million per mile. It looks to be substantial, not just barbed wire. Perhaps land purchase pushes up the US version.
Even at $20 billion on a budget of 3.5 Trillion does not seem that frightening. As others have pointed out would likely quickly pay for itself (assuming defending a culture was not enough).
I know, but I am talking about an impenetrable wall. tall and deep and will last. You cant just go throw hooks over the top and pull it down with some tractors. A GREAT WALL so to speak. a minuscule fraction of 16 million a mile. I think 2 should do it. Would love the other side to be covered in big screen US made tv’s. Wouldn’t you?
Build the wall.
But since it would likely take ten years; first shut the border.
That can be done on day two of Ted Cruz’s inauguration as President.
Guard troops could work with Border Patrol and seal it tight as a drum in a few days.
Also once the border is sealed; people will quit coming and it would take less man power.
The whole drug smuggling industry is threatened by border security. I’m sure that the gov’t of Mexico would disapprove of resolve to Shut It Down.
He’s a one trick Burrito....
Did you first see that on a highspeed line printer using a stroboscope?
I think the Free Staters should go take over one or two of MExico’s northern States. It could be another Laboratory for Freedom.
Rent sections of the border to privaters.
You too eh? I was actually 15 when I took the oath. Didn’t get to officially take it but took it in front of the parents. They had just officially become US citizens. It was a GREAT day. Only the cool neighbors were invited over, and it was a bash. Extreme ribeyes and sosaties and mielie pap, and train smash and boerewors and peri peri chicken and lots of beer and the usual sides. It was a celebration to become an AMERICAN.
“12 million unemployed blacks whos jobs these illegals took will pack up for them and drive them to the border so they can get work when the Illegals are gone.”
They’ll never do it, because it would violate their social norms. To wit:
“Loose Shoes, a Tight Pu__y and a Warm Place to $hit.”
Growing up in California in the 1950’s I can tell you that it was the “black leader’s at the time that killed the “guest worker program” (Bracero) for migrant farmworkers here. Their claim then was that these were “black jobs.” Funny thing, the Mexicans left and the blacks never showed up to pick anything but their butts.
I knew that.
I just couldn't resist a short answer that I use on a liberal at least once a day.
Now is this the same Jorge Ramos who has a big fence around HIS house?
