It requires the FORCE OF MORAL CONVICTION to motivate a force of arms. Those without moral convictions will always have an excuse not to wage battle against evil. So, they become the silent partners of evil. Complacency in the face of evil is no virtue, as much as unjust immoral law is no law! |

I do understand the nature of civil disobedience. It is something done by private citizens in defiance of government, not by government against itself.
Christians have been persecuted by this government for quite some time now. She is just the first to be jailed for her religious beliefs. Usually the government just takes everything you have and will ever have via fines. I certainly hope the state of Kentucky reacts to this. How about the GOP leader from the state of Kentucky? You cool with jailing Christians that stay true to their beliefs McConnell?
Isn’t this what the mullas are doing to 4 American citizens in Iran?
What if she was forced to quit?
Don’t be so smug when they come for YOU and fire you/jail you for being a Christian.
That’s what they’re doing to Mrs. Davis. It won’t be long before they extend that same rule of law to the rest of us.
“Can a pacifist Quaker refuse to issue a CCW license?”
Take it further...can a pacifist Quaker refuse to pay taxes that will be used by the military?
I’m not opposed to alcohol in moderation, but many Baptist reject drinking ANY alcohol. Can a Baptist county clerk refuse to issue a license to a liquor store if that store has met all its legal obligations?
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Matthew 5:11

So society has no say in what they give legal sanction to, is that your position?
Yes! How many times are you going to ask the same stupid question? The clerk says “Sorry, I have a problem with remarriage, there are other clerks who can help you.” No problem at all.
It is not her "job" to issue marriage certificates (that she has to sign) for people who were regarded as mentally ill for most of this nation's history any more than it is her "job" to issue marriage certificates to dogs and cats.
This is a manifestation of judicial tyranny, and we should not be supporting the power structure that makes judicial tyranny possible.
There will come a time when they demand we have identification tattooed on to us, and we better hope there is someone out there who will refuse to do "their job".
The County Sheriff is King of the County. He has a paramilitary force that can do what he directs. He could block the feds, and they would have to call out the national guard, I guess if they want to continue the hand.
Pope Benedict stepped down, not John Paul II.
I’m in TX too, but if I were in KY, I’d be up there at that courthouse too.
Rifle in hand.
The people have made the choices which led to this end, by empowering government to interfere in every aspect of our lives, by continuing to vote for elected officials who either increased the power of that government or refused to roll back those powers.
You simply do not like the consequences of those choices. Nor do I. But I don’t deny where the responsibility for those choices lies - in those who chose, time and time again, to empower government to make these decisions.
The sheriff needs to call together some sort of militia.
Wow, he’s going after the clerk’s deputies now?
He just threw her in jail until she either starts issuing licenses or directs her staff to start issuing them.
That justification acknowleges that her deputies act on her orders. Now he’s going to claim that he has the right to override her, assume her authority and direct her staff?
Thats a really big disconnect. And a major violation of sep of powers.
Demo-rats at change.org are petitioning for recall.
