From what I see on TV and stuff, 90% of women already have sex with a little robot...

Algore was the prototype for women.

They’ve gone back to the drawing board.

Misleading headline.

Where did this date talk come from? That implies talking to it rather than flipping a switch and rolling over. Who designs these polls, let alone the robots. I thought the idea was to make life better. To provide a fantasy, a robot that requires cuddling or critiques and scores your effort.
Date-a-bot? That sounds like a Bill Cosby program.

Man I would never...
I mean you’d have to pay me alot of money.
Or a little money if I was really broke.
Or really desperate.
Maybe if nobody knew about it.

Ok I would.

Kim Bassinger was in a movie that came close to this idea:
My Stepmother is an Alien (1988).

I don't see much wrong with this. Robots are not feminists. I would assume that you could choose the appearance of your robot, so your robot was feminine. Robots don't vote. Robots could be programmed to agree with you. Robots could be programmed to say the right things to you. Robots could be programmed with a failsafe option to never run off with Rosie or some other dyke. Robots could be programmed to make a pizza and bring you a six pack at the end of a fun evening, while keeping their mouths shut as you watch sports on TV.

All in all, robots could give good competition to real women, so that one day all children are born to women that really are women in the feminine sense of the word, 'woman'.
