Iowa pollster: 'We’ve seen everything’ with Trump
The Hill ^ | August30,2015 | Mark Hensch

Posted on 08/30/2015 5:51:15 PM PDT by Hojczyk

A pollster in Iowa said on Sunday that Donald Trump is defying political logic with his 2016 GOP presidential campaign.

Ann Selzer added that Trump is converting skeptics in the Hawkeye State in a way she has never previously encountered.

“A few months ago, he had the highest unfavorable [rating] of anybody,” Selzer said of Trump on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“And people said, ‘Well, he can’t possibly do any better in the horse race because his unfavorable [ratings] are so high,’” said Selzer, president of the Selzer & Company polling firm in Des Moines. “Can you ever really turn those around?”

“I said, ‘You know, we’ve seen everything happen,' ” she told host John Dickerson. “And we’ve certainly seen it happen this time.”

Selzer pointed out her organization’s latest poll as proof that Trump is winning the respect of everyday Iowans.

The new Bloomberg/Des Moines Register sampling released on Saturday has the outspoken billionaire scoring a 61 percent favorability rating.

He earns a 35 unfavorability rating, the survey added, a nearly complete reversal since the last Bloomberg/Des Moines Register sampling in May.

“He now has seven people with higher unfavorable [ratings] than he has, and that includes Jeb Bush,” Selzer said Saturday, referencing the former GOP governor of Florida.

“He has grown his favorability and its turned into votes,” she added of Trump’s fortunes in Iowa.

Saturday’s poll also said that Trump leads the race in Iowa for next year’s GOP presidential nomination with 23 percent support.

The latest RealClearPolitics average of national samplings, meanwhile, also has the New York business mogul ranked first in the Republican field with 23.5 percent.

I was for Trump from the time I found out he loves golf.
I have never met a golfer I did not like! And I have met thousands while playing public golf courses in Chicago.

Golfers are the best people!

Too late for what? Yeb?

Perhaps others are like me and sick of electing “conservatives” who go to Washington and cave in. Believe me, I have been doing that for years in Nevada and it has gotten me nowhere.

And you just proved my point.

You can’t defend Trump based on facts so you resort to attacking the messenger.

Cruz is doing what he needs to do right now. I’m sure deep down the whole Trump thing has probably annoyed him more than he would like to admit, but it is what it is and he’s making the best of it.

But I’m surprised, you should like my condescending tone. After all, that’s how Trump talks. When Trump talks “truth” it’s brash, bold, and awesome. When I talk truth, it’s condescending. Funny.

He must feel as badly as the girl still standing, alone, after the males rush to grab their chosen dance partners....and the music is ending. The ‘bush’ look—ALMOST makes one feel sorry for him....almost. Time to toss in the towel. It’s cryin’ time again,

There is nothing, zilch, nada, anything more conservative than putting interests of American citizens first! And Trump has that interest at heart better than any other candidate. That alone makes Trump the best conservative by a nautical mile.

You are 100 times more annoyed at Trump beating Cruz by a wide margin, than Ted Cruz himself! That tells me Cruz is a better man than you.

Sounds like a plan.

BTW, when I was into shortwave radio, I was a Grundig fanatic. In fact, I still keep a Satellit 700 in my study and after nearly a quarter century, it is still in perfect working order. A fabulous piece of German engineering.

I think that you have really hit on a very important aspect of this phenomenon. I’m retired, and don’t really talk to a very wide variety of people that much any more, but I have felt that this is what’s happening with Pubbies, Indies, and even some or many Dems. My first presidential vote was for Barry, in 1964, and I have never seen anything comparable to what I sense is going on now. I am for Cruz, but I will vote for the Rep. nominee if it is Cruz, Trump, or Carson. There might be others, but I can’t say about them yet.

Ted Cruz caved? On what? That is news to me.

I must have also missed that part where Scott Walker caved to the unions and allowed WI to go into financial crisis.

I lived in Downers Grove from 1970-1997 which is not far from Naperville. My daughter was born in Naperville’s main hospital. Dupage county is far more conservative than any other Chicago area counties.

Excuse me, I said Nevada. I didn’t vote for Ted Cruz or Scott Walker. I probably would have voted for them the first time but not the second.

The older Grundig's are exceptional. Their receive sensitivity was simply outstanding.

Compared to today's modern Grundig's that use surface mount technology packed into a tiny space. All those transistors, etc.. generate their own RF lowering the receive capabilities of the new rigs.

I have an old(er) Kenwood 940SAT as my first HF rig. The receive sensitivity on it is OUTSTANDING! I can hear signals on it that I cannot hear with my more modern Kenwood TS-2000. Then again, the TS-2000 uses extensive surface mount technology all packed into a case 1/2 the size of the TS-940.

I thought that was a 'fluke' so I did the same test on a Yaesu FT-101ZD that I'd completed rebuilding and restoring. Same result: Yaesu FT-101ZD had better receive than my TS-2000.

I think there's something to be said for the older receivers/transceivers.

“There is nothing, zilch, nada, anything more conservative than putting interests of American citizens first! And Trump has that interest at heart better than any other candidate. That alone makes Trump the best conservative by a nautical mile.”

See, this is the faulty logic I talk about. You tried to pass this off to someone else awhile back and I believe got called out for it also. How the hell do you know what’s in Trump’s heart or that he has the country’s interest at heart? All you have are his words, which have been all over the map because he’s been all over on the issues which has been documented very well out here.

There’s a reason Reagan used to advocate for “Trust, but verify”. And the truth is none of Trump’s positions can be verified because he’s been all over the map.

About 40% plus of voters in America are complete morons who vote default DemoRat.
Cruz is better conservatively vs. Trump but can he win necessary crossover votes like Trump can? Trump isn’t an ideal conservative but a far better choice than a RINO or the DemoRat pick.

Obama has built nothing! He could’nt run a hot dog stand at profit. Obama is not even a good talker. Take away his teleprompter, and he stumbles and stammers.

Trump on the other hand never needs a telepromter. And Trump has built $10,000,000.000.000.00 worth of real things.

Comparing Trump with Obama is like comparing an elephant with a rat because both have tails.
