After talking to mayors and law enforcement on the Texas-Mexico border, Bush said, What they said is a wall doesnt work. It just doesnt work. You cant build a wall on the rugged terrain that exists there.
He continued, What Donald Trump is proposing is a wall that cant be built. And if it was to be built it would be hundreds of billions of dollars. He wants everybody to be deported which will tear family life asunder

A Bush won’t work!
Jeb: Trump wants illegals to TAKE THEIR CHILDREN HOME WITH THEM... Families won't be torn 'asunder'... the kids can live in Mexico with their Mom and Dad.
A dam has to be strong enough to hold water back... a wall like this will be much easier...
Not just stay. Make them cook you a meal.
Israel’s wall works.
India’s wall works.
Anyone want to bet if the Bushes have security fences around their properties?
Its not going to tear families asunder. If the mom or dad get deported, the family goes with them. Why would they not? If you were deported from France, for example, you aren’t going to leave your kids behind.
And the Wall of Trump isn’t a big deal. A triple fence from El Paso to San Diego is quite do-able, and will be quite effective. We’re talking 700 miles. Big deal.
They aren’t going to build a wall along the Rio Grande, that isn’t going to happen. They just use that to discredit the whole project.
Good news is we’re building a wall, bad news is it’s out of recycled plastic grocery bags.
Maybe not the best example.
Took ‘em 50 years to get that stretch of Interstate done.
Let’s hope they can do something a little quicker on the southern border. :)
Pipestem in MT (I-90), and Cabbage in OR (I-84) are two particularly nasty pieces of terrain.
If they ever get around to building this fence, they’re going to dump a ton of money on some huge company like Bechtel Corporation. If I were in charge, I’d dump a couple of billion on Frank’s Fence Company and watch him grow. ;-)
The fencing industry builds tens of thousands of barb-wire-topped 12-foot security fence every single year in the US. They say "it's too hard" to build the fence for the same reason your kid says "it's too hard" when they're told to cut the grass.
.LAZINESS.
There’s all sorts of countries that “seal” there borders one way or another. Instead of saying a wall won’t work, they should be focused on how to make it work - like posting guards, using spy technology etc.
Of course a stupid wall just sitting on the ground with no one around and no other enforcement won’t work, but we certainly could post people to make sure that people don’t just climb over, or dig under.
People like Jeb don’t want the borders closed, cause if they did, it would already be done.
How long is the Israeli wall, how long is the Egypt/Gaza Wall, and how long would the US/Mexico wall have to be? Also, how long is the new Hungarian wall? The US wall will have to be close to 2,000 miles. Each of those miles will have to have a number of people guarding the wall to prevent breaking through, climbing over, tunneling under, etc. Also would be needed a staging facility with food, bathroom, office, bed, vehicles, etc. to maintain 3 shifts of personnel for each mile. How closely would the guards need to be placed, how close would the staging facilities need to be etc. Anyone want to estimate the maintenance cost of all that, plus the building of both the wall, the roads, the facilities, the training of the guard personnel, etc.?
So far as the Great Wall off China is concerned, there were actually several walls, built over periods of centuries, and they didn’t always keep the invaders out. They were more important as a paved road to travel quickly over rough terrain to quickly pass messages and get troops to where they might be needed for invasion in force. Here are hundreds of images of the walls with towers in high places, probably where troops and guards were stationed, and signals sent. Note that the crenellated walls along the road vary in places. Some have embrasures on both sides for archers, others only have them on one side, presumably facing the enemy. The mountains are impressive and you can see why roads were less popular.
At various times China has claimed different mileages of wall. The link below discusses potential claims and possible use for land disputes with Korea.
In all, when it came to major invasion, the Chinese wall did not keep the barbarians out. Unless they had large numbers of troops available to mass at an attack point, it was not that hard to get over the wall.
The “anchor babies” tend to be from Asian mothers who may spend as much as $50,000 to come in on a visa, give birth here and go back home with dual citizenship for their baby. So 20 years later they can send their “American” baby to a US university, and who knows what plans the Chinese government might have with regard to sleepers.
True to a certain extent but they didn’t have the other technologies that we have as well and realistically simple things like minefields might eventually be necessary. The invasion has been going on and has to be stopped one way or another or we can kiss the country goodbye and start speaking Spanish and bribing cops and government officials.
I feel embarrassed for him.
