Out of all the summer coverage about a boisterous billionaire flipping the campaign paradigm and a socialist outsider senator drawing large millennial crowds, there is one candidate for the presidency whos getting less mainstream news coverage despite holding his own throughout it all: Ben Carson.
Donald Trump may draw a crowd of 20,000 in Alabama (a solid showing even as he underwhelmed his own estimate of 36,000), but Carson, with far fewer dollars on hand, drew 12,000 in Phoenix a week ago. Bernie Sanders is drawing crowds of 3,000 in South Carolina, but Carson is getting overflow, standing-room-only receptions in Iowa, Tennessee and Arkansas.
Carson is not only the quintessential non-politician, but hes probably the most anti-political or less politically savvy of political candidates somehow persisting in the 2016 election cycle. And while there is quite a bit of smart prognostication that gives Trump the easy edge (at least) in primary states like Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, Carson is still out there as the soft-spoken spokesman of an accidental movement that suddenly can.
Only months ago, rampant speculation supposed his campaign would fizzle into oblivion, the rickety infrastructure cracking under the weight of inexperience from its top guy and fractious silo-fighting within its ranks. Did he even have a campaign?
Surprisingly, implosion hasnt happened just yet. Instead, the retired pediatric neurosurgeon continues thumping conventional theories of his early demise. That he is Black, quietly barreling his way through a Republican primary full of frustrated whiteness, is worth noting (and, perhaps, it amounts to one subtly racist reason he faces snubs from national press caught up in the rabid rage of fist-pounding angry white guys).

Said 15 years ago. Troll.
Slowly but surely black conservatives are comming forth accepting the reality that Obama created this hyphenation of Americans using race for his own political purposes. Which Ive been posting here in FRs for years was employed as a political tactic to defer any constitutional questioning action of the 1st branch by the 2nd branch of government.

The sad part is we do have a black candidate now in second place in current polling running for POTUS who has yet to speakout on this matter. Until he will he does not deserve consideration to be our POTUS
Um. Appears Team Bush is also pushing him upward and onward.......http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/08/30/team-jebs-newest-strategy-push-ben-carson/
Trump has had to deal with pols in almost every single nation.
He understands HOW things work.
He knows how to fight and win.
He is his own man; nobody is funding him/pulling his strings.
None of that is true for Carson, who hasn't a clue.
Carson is OK, but Trump would be better as far as getting things done. The article seems just as much a “make up fibs about Trump with false statistics” as it is a pro-Carson deal.
Dr Ben is the real thing, a genuine conservative.
Not mentioned is the power behind his effort. He appeared here on the stage of a Forbes 400 company that is generally apolitical. For that to happen and his mention of other large companies in anecdotal passing means to me that he has some solid support from business that is fed up with the status quo and that has found a man to make changes.
He has very important friends and close contacts that go far, far beyond the surgery suites at Johns Hopkins
Perhaps I should go back to him since Scott is floundering. I get e mail from Dr Ben’s wife and campaign at least weekly
your gun ness is not a problem.....that is inadequate reason to oppose him....... he ain’t going to come after your guns
Dr. Carson is a very nice man who would be eaten live in Washington. We need someone stronger. Washington is not a tulip field neither is the world stage.
