U. Wisconsin official: let's stop prosecuting shoplifting
Campus Reform ^ | Aug 24, 2015 | Peter Fricke

Mitchell, a former assistant district attorney, says his comments were not an endorsement of shoplifting.

A University of Wisconsin-Madison official claims laws against shoplifting are just an excuse to over-police minority communities.

“I just don’t think that they should be prosecuting cases… for people who steal from Wal-Mart,” said Everett Mitchell, director of community relations for the university, during an on-campus event. “I don’t think [with] Target or all them other places, them big box stores that have insurance, they should be using the fact that people steal from there as justification to start engaging in aggressive police practices, right?”

...

Mitchell, a former assistant district attorney, offered shoplifting as an example, suggesting that communities of color may prefer that police refrain from enforcing laws against theft from large retail chains because responding to such crimes leads to an increased police presence in neighborhoods where shoplifting is prevalent.

Mitchell also noted that police generally defend their actions by saying they are merely directing their focus toward high-crime areas, but rejected that explanation, saying, “they do that all the time to justify why they’re going to over-police our children.”

Just as I figured. An AA hire. Would that be affirmative action, african American or both?

per the comment on the activity in certain areas ....

the crime ( stolen card used at Wal-Mart ) happened in a predominately white area, but the perpetrator wasn’t ....

“Mitchell,..........says his comments were not an endorsement of shoplifting”. Wrong! What he said was certainly an endorsement of shoplifting.

Step 1: Stop prosecuting shoplifters.
Step 2: Watch as shoplifting dramatically increases.
Step 3: Watch as stores close down and move somewhere else.

Oh, and don’t forget Step 4:

Step 4: Complain that there are no stores in the area.

Hey Mitchell! (A University of Wisconsin-Madison official), I suggest we also do the same at your house...stop arresting people for stealing your property. Let them have all your stuff. After all, it’s just an excuse for police to come down hard on people who are poor and decide you should share your stuff with them.

What was once called good will be called evil, and what was once called evil will be called good.

I honestly thought this was satire at first.

Al Pacino was right when in “The Scent of a Woman,” he said “If he were the man he used to be he’d take a flamethrower to this place.” Seems to fit the University of Wisconsin to a tee (and most of the rest of what passes for universities and colleges here today as well).

Interesting theory. Obviously we need a community that agrees to be a test case. How about it, Wisconsin? You elected this guy. Care to put your brilliance to the test for the rest of the nation to see if they should follow suit?

Cities can zone all minority sectors to prohibit any kind of retailing. That will eliminate both the temptation and the need for as much policing.

“Mitchell, a former assistant district attorney, says his comments were not an endorsement of shoplifting.”

Why, yes. Yes, that IS an endorsement of shoplifting.

Step five: demand and receive bus service to area where the store is now located.
Repeat step one, etc.

We have to get people in high places to start pushing back hard against this “poor me” nonsense.

No more RINOs.

I hope Trump says it. That’s what it’s come to, the boss of The Apprentice is the only person who would have the nerve to say “are you kidding, stop whining and go to work”.

We get Rand Paul meeting with Al sharpton. I remember when i worked in Rock Plaza and he was outside and the liberals in my office got excited.

They did not like the words i called him. Can’t reprint them here.

“Might as well stop prosecuting car thieves, jewelry store robberies, bank robberies, etc, etc, etc.”

Not true. only stop prosecuting theft of LUXURY cars, BIG chain jewelery store robberies, and bank robberies from too-big-to-fail banks.
