I Like Donald Trump. I REALLY do. But...
Vanity ^ | 8/29/2015 | Self

Though this is a vanity, I have linked to the foundational source of my point.

I REALLY like what the Trump is saying. I like his attitude, I lake his effectively destroying PC and his takedown of the MSM. I like seeing all the liberal and GOPe heads exploding. I especially like him running a screen for Cruz.

But I would be very concerned about a Trump presidency. If you look at his stances in the past and some that are current and couple that with is personality, attitude and MO, and imagine him as the "strong man" in the article in the link, you will see where I am coming from.

I’m curious if there are any interviews with Trump right after 9/11. I’m wondering what his gut reaction to that was and if he expressed any ideas on how we should respond. Not sure what’s out there because media coverage on him might’ve been pretty low around that time 2 years after his divorce and 3 years before the Apprentice started. But considering he’s a New Yorker and a guy who builds buildings his reaction would be interesting whatever it was.

OK, found an interview with him 2 days after 9/11 with a foreign reporter on YouTube.

And the essence of wisdom is in keeping that balance.

Let private people choose the winners and losers. The government has no business doing anything but enforcing honesty and overseeing the resource efforts of such a scope that nothing else makes sense (warfare, national transportation).

Politics and Hollywood entertainment have been hand in glove for quite some time. They are all about money and notoriety...be it good or bad press, money earned or through corruption the bottom line is that of celebrity and money....both of which Trump represents.....but now with a Political cap...of Let’s make America Great Again.

I sometimes feel like we are on a roller coaster ride without railings in this election.....though realizing much is orchestrated it’s becoming more like Hollywood programming than an election.

Pass around the Brawndo!

Trump isn’t “wonderful” — he’s “least worst.” But again, what would a turn around look like at the inflection point. Probably not with El Perfecto becoming President.

You are seriously suggesting that Trump is a fascist? I thought better of you.

.....”I think there are strong odds we are headed for catastrophe regardless of who gets elected”.....

Remember when Bush was running and appointed his cabinet.....my son and I both said at that moment something big was coming for the men he appointed were strong and powerful men. ...9/11 would and did require such.

I agree we are going to face something equal to that ahead regardless of the nature of.....it's vital we have strong and “decisive” men at the helms!

BTW...your thread is proving to be the best one of the day !

Yesterday a clown clumsily suggested some Wagner music for a Trump theme song, getting even the name wrong.

(Wagner wrote wonderful opera, but he was personally a kook in a line of thought that was later to be taken up in seriousness by Adolf Hitler. What a shame because great music does not deserve that kind of shadow over it.)

Ditto. I love his anti-PC stance. But, lets not kid ourselves - he’s no conservative. He will do his own thing as Pres - even if surrounded by conservatives. His public statements, while fun to watch, merely reflect what will get him the most press at any given time.

I’m not voting for him. There are several other candidates who, while I don’t always agree with, have proven they will govern as conservatives. With Trump, it’s a pig -in-a-poke.

If Trump sincerely wants his businesses to be the archetype of what succeeds in future America, he is going to find that conservative policy makes more sense than progressive policy.

I understand your point, but disagree. I don't think wants his business to be the archetype of anything but his own success.

Trump has engaged in crony capitalism, helping the worst of liberal politicians, bullying private property owners (He agreed with the Kelo decision "100 percent.") He does and says whatever he thinks will benefit him personally in terms of power and money. These have been his only consistent values.

True conservative policy is rooted in small government, individual rights, the constitution. I don't think these are Trump's principles - they certainly haven't been in the past.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Who is most likely to be able to cut through the “junk” in such a moment.

I could think of worse possibilities than Donald Trump.

Crises often have a way of bringing out the better side of otherwise venal politicians. Not always, though.

And yet when many of these things are viewed in retrospect — take Kelo as an example, the proposed project was NEVER built there and the result was sheer waste — wisdom comes. And Trump is listening to wisdom now or he never would have been able to put together a case as cogent as he now has.

Contrast Obama’s life and accomplishments to Trumps.

His second term in office and we still have not seen his college records?
Has there every been a POTUS who hasn’t had summer jobs or who had such a mystery background.
He became a jr Senator i believe using dirty tactics. Didn’t vote while in the senate...then came out of nowhere to become the President of the US?
Then got reelected?
He has been in the minority on everything he has done while president and yet got almost everything he pushed?
The so called Republicans gave him token resistance but gave in every step of the way?
Really, i am not sure we are not in a dictatorship already?
We will know in a little over a year.

We all know Trumps background, maybe more than we would like to know, but it is there for all to see.
Trump can point to his accomplishments.
Now, how much will he be able to do as President. That is always the question. Even Cruz, who is a real constitutional scholar, will meet with resistence.

Will i can’t say i am not nervous about Trump. I am nervous about whoever the next President will be.

It’s just a warning. Fools rush in

Well, we're in California and we have yet to ever vote to make any difference in a presidential primary. It's already a done deal by the time we go to the polls. No chance here that we would be fools rushing in--We have been so voiceless here for so long, that when Trump speaks with confidence and surety, especially about illegal immigration, we feel we have finally been heard in a deaf world.

I think myself, and most others that are ENJOYING Mr. Trump, are feeling he will DO a LOT MORE GOOD than BAD.

I'll go with Trump before I would ever even consider Soros/Jarrett/Obama.

Sorry but Cuban Leaf is right....and I support any thread that gives and allows expression of concern about any candidate....not everybody has jumped onto the Trump train or the Cruz Boat but they are definitely watching because there's a great deal to loose if we don't get it right this time... I also see the Trump Train as similar to when Obama ran in regard to the public's attraction.....popularity isn't the only way to go though it does seem that's exactly what the public looks for.

But do we really want to "risk" Trump, and it would be that if all are honest about his history. I'd prefer to have a tried and tested Conservative who already knows the Washington terrain and can quickly navigate it to get things done...

Trump will have a huge "learning curve" and I question any degree of patience he would have or could muster in navigating the land mines of Washington.

“he’s no conservative”

If we could meld Trumps business/people savvy with Cruz’s Constitutional savvy i believe this election would be over right now.

Otherwise, Trump is no angle but at the same time i don’t think he would let someone bully an angel.

Cruz might be a little to nice for the kind of scum that is national politics. Still i believe if it came down to it he also would stand up to the devil.
