The U.S. ambassador to the Vatican said that during Pope Francis visit to the United States next month, he expects the Pope will urge the U.S. to embrace its history of welcoming immigrants.
Ambassador Kenneth Hackett said the Popes immigration message will be important as lead GOP presidential contender Donald Trump has called for a border fence between Mexico and the United States and the deportation of millions of illegal immigrants, the Associated Press reports.
I think hell call us to continue to engage with it (the world), dont throw any walls up around our nation, dont revert to isolationism, he said. We are a nation of welcoming people, so thats where I think he will put his attention.
In addition to immigration, Hackett says Pope Francis will likely wish to discuss income inequality, family issues, and the environment while he is in the country.

The Vatican has alot of empty space there Pope....Practice what you preach to the plebs.
I’m waiting for him to speak up against ISIS and terrorism. His great desire for the US to harbor anyone who wants to walk in here may come from his native Argentina, which gave an unbridled welcome to Ricardo Klement (better known as Adolf Eichmann) and many of his SS cohorts who lived openly without interference from the Argentine “government”.
Sorry Pope, we don’t want any more filthbag criminal illegals who are now murdering and raping in record numbers. Build the wall. One like Israel has would be perfect.
I have not seen anything holy about this man.
The Pope doesn’t like capitalism, but he wants the last great (sort of) capitalist country to open our borders to all those fleeing less economically free countries. What is wrong with this picture?
El Papa, la papa, no hay diferencia en la cabeza.
Is this pope ignorant or what.
I vote for The Vatican. They even have a big wall around it. Open the gate and let them ALL in!
“maybe after we see them pitching tents in Vatican City”
Catholic here, but, my first thought too....the Vatican is pretty big; let’s start there.
From wiki
"Vatican City; officially the Vatican City State is a walled enclave within the city of Rome.
Why doesn't the Pope open up Vatican City to the immigrates?
the Holy Father need only look at his host in our WH to see that America’s doors are already as wide open as the barn-door after the cows have gotten out
and
that we are letting ANYBODY and ANYTHING in to USA and into our government, including sworn enemy IslamoNazi agents working 24/7 to destroy our country
EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING gets in to USA now!
Hey, Pope! KMA, you Marxist POS.
I suspect the next Pope will be Jeb Bush since he isn’t going to win the US presidency and he seems to be as muddle-headed as Francis.
I would love to have doors... we need a wall or a fence to have a door.
I fail to understand by what authority he comes to our country to instruct us on these matters. We are not a Catholic country. There are Catholics in our country and he is welcome to instruct them with his Papal decrees, but the rest of the world should not care about his opinion.
Banish the Swiss Guards, also, since he doesnt believe in guns.
*********************************************************************
It isn’t just the Swiss Guards, he has at least a half dozen men in black surrounding him at all times, I’m betting they are armed. A prudent precaution, to be sure but my life is just as important to me as papa’s is to him. I cannot afford to have numerous body guards, so I carry. Papa cannot and will not deny me that.
As the Argentine leftist again targets America. Why in holy ***k doesn’t he demand the same of other countries???
Hopefully, one day soon, there will be clap of thunder and Gods’ hand will descend and slap the crap out of him.
This man is a disaster. He is not worthy to be pope.
I believe his moral authority comes from John Boehner who as I understand it, extended the invitation to this Argentine lecturer. I wonder if the Pope will call Ted Cruz a “jackass” to thank Boehner for the forum where he gets to spout his political views.
