When Alison Parker was an intern at WDBJ in 2012, Vester Lee Flanagan then a reporter for the station heard her utter what he apparently considered to be racist words.
Parker made reference to swinging by a destination and also referred to heading out into the field, according to Flanagans 2013 complaint with the station, the New York Post reported.
Parker wasnt disciplined over her word choices, the Post reported, and Flanagan was fired a month after leveling his racism accusations against Parker, which were part of his failed discrimination lawsuit against the station.
Two years later, Flanagan fatally shot Parker, 24, and TV cameraman Adam Ward, 27, during a live news broadcast Wednesday morning. On the run, using a Twitter account under his on-air name Bryce Williams, Flanagan cited Parkers racist comments in a stream of tweets. Police said Flanagan died later that day of a self-inflicted gunshot.
Thats how that guys mind worked, Ryan Fuqua, a WDBJ video editor, told the New York Post of Flanagans racism claims. Just crazy, left-field assumptions like that.
[Those words are] just common, everyday talk. [But] that was his MO to start s**t, Fuqua added. He was unstable. One time, after one of our live shots failed, he threw all his stuff down and ran into the woods for like 20 minutes.
WDBJ cameraman Trevor Fair recalled others using the term field around Flanagan: We would say stuff like, The reporters out in the field. And he would look at us and say, What are you saying, cotton fields? Thats racist, he told the Post.
Wed be like, What? he added. We all know what that means, but he took it as cotton fields, and therefore were all racists.
This guy was a nightmare, Fair told the Post. Managements worst nightmare.
Then there was the time a station manager brought in watermelon for all employees. Of course, he thought that was racist. He was like, Youre doing that because of me. No, the general manager brought in watermelon for the entire news team. Hes like, Nope, this is out for me. You guys are calling me out because Im black.
7-Elevens sale of watermelon-flavored Slurpees didnt escape Flanagans observations, either.
Its not a coincidence, theyre racist, Fair recalled Flanagan saying.
One of Parkers former classmates, who is black, said the slain reporter was anything but racist.
When I took [my journalism] job, she recommended me, Jessica Albert, who attended James Madison University with Parker, told the Associated Press. She di
out into the field,
Also has ‘out’. Poor outed gay.
Not so crazy as the left takes offense to most everyday speech.
PC CAN get you killed.
More proof homosexuality is a mental disorder. In this case it led to the death of two people and the serious injury of another. Keep guns out of the hands of homosexuals, especially black ones.
Managements worst nightmare.
Everyone’s worst nightmare!
That’s what you call ‘shopping for trouble’.
Jeez, what a delusional racist he was. In some of my past service being “out in the field” had a very specific meaning...and it sure as hell wasn’t in reference to cotton fields.
Where’s all the outrage over this being a race motivated crime?
I guess esp the black reporters that the MSM seem to be assigning this case to aren’t “comfortable” with that, huh?
Pierre Thomas, where art thou?
Like 0bama's take on racism. "The police acted stupidly." "Trayvon could have been my son." "The death of Michael Brown is heartbreaking,..."
At my University they had one day called, Picnic Day, and all the campus activists decried it, claiming the word etymology had something to do with “pick your n*gger”:
Completely made-up.
That’s like the DC bureaucrat fired 10 years ago after a budget meeting in which he described one line item as NIGGARDLY and should have been higher.
Got FIRED..!
More: His defense against getting fired used logic, right? NOPE! His defense was that he was GAY.
Geez. There are just so many unhinged people out there. The slightest thing can set them off.
Why would anyone have expected her to be?
A personage with too much melanin who also is described like a British slang term for cigarettes committed a double murder. Thank goodness he is room temperature, as it saves money on a trial.
As I have said many times before...
A sane person is simply wasting their time trying to understand
the “why” behind any crazy person that does something crazy.
Crazy people do crazy things because they are crazy.
That’s all you need to know or remember.
This is what happens when the lefties start believing their own BS.
The product of making everything sound “offensive”... Al Sharpton owns some some of the responsibility for creating that perverted, paranoid environment.
I wonder what his Dummy screen name was...he sounds like a typical member there.
Ticking time bombs all over the place!
