2016 GOP frontrunner and billionaire Donald Trump already won his war with the Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly.
She’s exposed as having a point of view, rather than being a purely impartial arbiter of news. Now he’s just having fun as a larger war between him and the network’s powers-that-be looms.
But what Trump has done in a truly special manner is expose that fallacy. It’s not that Trump’s war with Kelly isn’t petty—it is, and it is probably counterproductive to be fighting with a television personality for weeks on end as he’s soaring in the polls. He could be fighting with the Mexican or Chinese governments or with Democrats or his fellow GOP candidates—all of which would be more conducive to helping him earn more supporters—but Trump isn’t someone who backs down easily–and since Kelly came after him, not the other way around, he feels like he needs to win. Well, in the regard of whether or not Kelly is in fact impartial, Trump has a decisive victory.
That doesn’t mean that Kelly will see a drop in ratings or a loss of status in the media. She’s still the top dog on the Fox News Channel, and her show still gets incredible ratings. Until a credible competitor emerges—CNN and MSNBC certainly haven’t been able to make the cut—she’ll remain there, just like O’Reilly and Hannity have. But Trump has taken one thing away from her that she and her bosses at Fox can never replace, no matter how much time or money they spend on it: the appearance of impartiality.

What will Fox News’s new slogan be? ‘’Fair and Balanced’’ has become a joke.
No reasonable person would consider it fair for a debate moderator to attack one particular candidate in a political debate.
But we know it wasn’t Megyn Kelly alone who destroyed Fox News’s credibility, since the entire network got behind her after her debate performance. There were no apologies.
At least the head of the network should now apologize to Megyn herself for making her take all the blame.
What will happen to Fox News now?
If Donald Trump’s poll numbers rise above 50% and his nearest competitors still can’t rise into the 20s, Donald Trump would become the de facto head of the Republican party, and he would be able to strongly ‘’advise’’ his fellow Republicans not to appear on Fox News.
Where will that leave the formerly fair and balanced network except unwatchable by its mostly hundreds of thousands of Republican viewers?

Presently having a cup of coffee outside our Airstream parked on the Oregon coast. I have no plans to even bother with tv for a couple of weeks. Kelly is dead to me and Fox is on its death bed.
They have rebranded themselves and made their existence irrelevant to my life.

A New York Magazine writer and author of the 2014 book about Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” said in a recent televised interview the cable station’s biggest star, Megyn Kelly, may not be re-engaging in public disputes with presidential hopeful Donald Trump because she doesn’t want to hurt her chances to move to a more mainstream network, like CNN.
Kelly, on the heels of widespread criticism of her debate night questioning of Trump – after which the billionaire businessman called her a “bimbo” in a tweet – went on what she and Fox officials said was a long-planned vacation.
Trump, on the other hand, claimed her vacation was due to the fireworks she faced from her presidential debate questions about his previous treatment of women. As soon as she returned, he retweeted messages from Twitter posters that once again, called her a “bimbo.” Various Fox personalities called Trump wrong for reigniting the dispute with Kelly, while Ailes came out and called for the presidential contender to apologize.
Kelly, meanwhile, took the high road and didn’t directly respond to Trump’s latest attacks. And Newsmax TV host Steve Malzberg wanted author Gabriel Sherman to explain why. “I think she, up until this point, was kind of the fastest rising star at Fox,” Sherman said. “She was really becoming the face of the network. ... You have got to be kidding me? Megyn Crowley never gave a perception of impartiality on her best day.
“EXCLUSIVE: ‘I wanted a wife... so did she’”
This is common with many career driven women.
Decades ago one of our female friends divorced a good man. After the divorce, she told us that she “needed a wife”.
I asked her if she wanted a lesbian or what.
She said, “I’m not a lesbian, I need a wife to do the shopping, cooking, cleaning and to have a social friend while I devote my life/energy to my job/career.
For a couple of decades she hooked up/lived with an older retired guy, who fit that role until he died. Both were happy in that relationship.
One of our younger male relatives had a serious relationship for about a year with a younger version of this woman. She wanted to get married and for him to give up his excellent job and be her wife.
I reminded him about the woman, I described above, and asked him if he would be happy being the man/wife. He said no and broke up with her. That woman is still looking for a male wife.
“Trump’s War”???

Because taking your fight to a press fifth column that has enjoyed selecting the Republican ticket for years isn’t worth the effort?
I don’t care that this is Breitbart. This guy is wrong. Trump must know the FIRST WAR he has to win is AGAINST the PRESS.
The press assumes we don’t blame them for the state the country (and world) is in right now, and they are wrong about that too.
Megyn Kelly banked on an old set of rules and didn’t realize the nature of politics changed when the GOP took DC in a landslide and did literally nothing in return.
I’d be shocked if she’s part of the next debate. I don’t know how she saves face from the last one she was in.
As if, suddenly, the questions are going to be more substantial? Like the bias is going to disappear? Only way Fox saves themselves is if Brit Hume stpes back in with Cavuto maybe and puts the debate on a more substantive footing.
Ask hard questions - by all means. Just don’t ask GOTCHA questions. (Oh, and stop thinking from your box, Megyn - there is more to life than female victimology)

She was on Fox & Friends the other day as a guest. I figured it was just a part of her segue in as a regular. She sure does hold her own considering her age — 22 y.o., I believe.

If "arbiter" means something like an "umpire" somebody asking questions in a debate does in a way become part of the story, and isn't standing outside of it looking on.
I'm not sure a news person can entirely avoid having a point of view. Can you arbitrate or decide what's news and be purely impartial?
Doesn't judging what's news mean applying some standard that other people might not agree to sometimes?
In any case, just asking a tough question doesn't in itself mean that one "has a point of view" in a negative or disqualifying sense.
