"...Is Walkers dive a temporary blip or a sign of deeper problems with the candidate? The case for calm is fairly strong. There are five months and five more debates left until anyone must settle on a candidate. Trumpmania has overtaken the entire GOP field, not just Walker...[who] continues to lay the groundwork for long-term victory:..Yuval Levin,a leading conservative reformer, called the most substantively and politically serious conservative health care reform we have yet seen from a presidential candidate. Theres still hope for Walker that when the dust settles hell be the candidate left standing who can unite a fractious party.
......The theory behind a Walker candidacy is that after two terms of Barack Obama, voters are ready for a workhorse, not a showhorse....
Walker has always acknowledged hes an ordinary guy who doesnt give soaring speeches, but he believes that charisma is about much more than oratory. I think theres a certain appeal that people have for candidates who are authentic, people who have a passion for ideas and who believe in things,...
[SNIP]
The reason Walker became a strong contender in the first place is that he did the right thing,as far as conservatives are concerned,in facing down public unions even after being swarmed by protesters and the media. The polls had turned against him,but Walker signed the collective bargaining bill anyway. Only after the reforms took effect did they become popular. As Walker himself later acknowledged, he did a poor job of explaining them. My problem was I fixed it,then I talked about it. Most politicians spend all their time talking about it but never fix it,....
Theres still time for Walker to turn things around and win the GOP nomination. But if hes going to succeed, hell need to do a better job of explaining his agendaand convincing voters its clear in his own mind.

i really think was his for the taking but he ran a campaign like Perry did in 2012. Foot in mouth disease. It seems he has management abilities but little conviction.
Walker has been good for Wisconsin. He is a fighter who speaks softly but carries a big stick, look at what he did to the unions in Wisconsin. What Walker lacks is the “fire in the stomach” persona that would get him in the top tier candidates for POTUS. I do see him as one who could be a VP candidate but unlikely we will see him as “the one”.
I guess “foot in mouth” is in the eye of the beholder - informed vs uninformed (or OP poster).
Part of that is being "midwestern nice" and not painting a target on his back, along with not signaling to the opposition to coalesce and set up their defenses and offensives.
As I said yesterday, seeing the Left foam at the mouth and lay siege to the state capital for months, that kind of theater excites our side too, and it is more sustainable and infectious than throwing red meat (which I think Walker does too - it's just not his calling card).
Many a good man cannot quite grab the top ring.
Still, they are good men!
Much better men than I.
Trump has been saying the state isn’t in the best of fiscal shape. I honestly don’t know. Do you disagree with that characterization? If not, what’s your take on it?
Scott Walker doesn’t really believe in anything. We dodged a bullet on this one.
Trump is sucking all the oxygen out of the room. Nobody knows how to react because this has never happened before.
From Free Fall to Free Markets: How Wisconsin Turned Itself Around Be sure to scroll down - good LINKS and information about Wisconsin and Scott Walker's tenure as governor.
How many times has he changed stances on immigration? You can’t take 3 different positions in one week.
You're merely taking a political shot. The unions would disagree.
How do you square your statement with this:
Straight out of the shoot (1st day in office Walker signed on with the other states suing Obamacare).
Then 6 months into his 1st term he revoked instate tuition for illegals (only state/gov who has).
Headline news.
It appears that the media interpreted Walkers answer to a question and made it a headline.
Then they said he had to clarify (the medias mistake).
So now the story becomes that Walker changed his mind.
Interesting how that works.
Donald Trump has a good grasp on reality, something sorely lacking in our day and age where the silent, politically ignorant and lazy majority including many politicians, let themselves be controlled and kowtowed by a few freaks who run counter to whatever the majority believes and wants. Then along comes someone like a Donald Trump who doesnt give a rats a$$ if he is politically correct or not and tells it like it is and the political establishment gets their shorts in a wringer and cant figure out why he resonates with a good portion of the public who has gotten sick and tired of all the old, rotten, lying, contrived crap being served up on a daily basis by Washington, not to mention that guy who thinks he runs the show and would be lost without a teleprompter.
Even good old Jeb Bush didnt get the message when he tried to chastise Donald for telling Jorge Ramos from Univision to sit down and shut up as it hadnt been his turn to talk, and when he still refused to shut up, Donald had him rightfully thrown out. However being a fair person, who he is, Donald later on had him readmitted.
Lets face it, it has become increasingly difficult if not impossible to start a revolution in this country in order to correct and throw out that pile of dung which has been accumulating over the years within that shining City on the Hill, which has lost much of its luster and Trump is about the closest and next best thing to a much needed revolution in order to clean out the cesspool on the Hill.
If he succeeds is another question, let us hope he does otherwise the downhill slide of this once Great Nation will continue unabated and the trash heap of history which is waiting for us at the bottom, should we ever get there, certainly doesnt look too appealing.
I disagree. but as i said before, he has management abilities but when we get to national issues he seems clueless. Trump is making stuff up. More than one thread over the past 2 weeks calling Trump out on his statements about Wisconsin.
Thank you for the response.
Walker was my choice in 2013 and 2014 and until May or so of 2015. He’s number 2 or 3 on my list now after Cruz. Trump is nowhere at all on my list
I’m not going to say you’re wrong, because I just don’t know. Frankly, I’m not that concerned with the status of Wisconsin. I am curious.
As for Trump, I don’t want to see him saying stuff that isn’t true.
My B.S. meter is kind of neutral on this one from both sides. He says one thing and someone else says, yes but with qualifiers. I know how campaigns operate and so I take certain things with a grain of salt until I can verify.
I now Walker has the union thugs against him, so I know that there is misinformation going around. I’m not judging him based on that type of stuff.
Sometimes even a bad source can be right though. I’ll keep looking.
Thank you for your response.
