Donald Trump has until the end of next month to formally declare his allegiance to the Republican Party or his name will not appear on the South Carolina presidential primary ballot.
South Carolina GOP Chairman Matt Moore confirmed the requirement this afternoon that candidates filing as Republicans must pledge not to turn as a third-party candidate should they lose the nomination.
At least two other states - Virginia and North Carolina - are contemplating similar moves as way of keeping the unpredictable billionaire in check.

So,, the state parties establish the rules for who can and cannot appear on their Primary Ballots?? I find that hard to believe,, no Legislature I’ve heard of would leave that task to a political party. Most likely the state Constitution lays out the method for obtaining a slot on the ballot.
Or he could just lie.
Signing that pledge will give him another 5 points.
How about another pledge that ALL of the candidates have to take - to support the nominee of the party, no matter who it is?
I have sticky keys....sorry about that mess
Pledges made under duress have no standing in the real world.
Make the pledge. If you want to run later, break the pledge.
An oath requiring loyalty to the party...hmmm, where have I heard about something like that before?
Mexico? No.
Canada? Not a chance.
England? Hell no.
South Africa? Nah.
Sweden? Negatory.
Oh, yeah, NOW I remember: it was in Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia and Red China (among other similar Hell holes).
Great frickin’ job, South Carolina GOPe: you’ve now gone ahead and graduated from mere condescending dismissal of those whom you purport to represent, to all-out totalitarianism. FANTASTIC! Old Joe and Adolph are hoisting a cold one in Hell in your honor.
If thousands of Republicans were to change their registrations to independent on a single day, it might, just might, let the GOPe know that were sick of their BS.
DON'T DO THAT!!!!
They WANT you to leave the party...then they will rule what's left with an iron fist. Stay in and merely write in Trump if you like him. Leaving gives them the victory.
About a day or too Trump mentioned that he had his “attorneys” studying the question and would make a decision when the time comes.
Trump will figure out what to do to win. This is why we are supporting him. He knows how to play out these tough situations.
The GOP is playing with fire here and whoever attacks Trump dishonestly usually ends up losing really, really big.
This is a huge bet on the GOP’s part and the anti Trump media part. If Trump wins, they will pay the consequences a 1000 times over!
F*ck You South Carolina. FU FU FU. I will make certain I never buy anything made in South Carolina ever. That is a promise.
When I use my tablet, it sometimes inserts words that it thinks will come next, or words that start with the letters I’m typing. I haven’t figured out how to turn off that function....................
This is typical GOPe/RINO behavior. They just don’t realize why they are so despised and ridiculed. Clueless morons.
The good news is he doesnt need SC.
If Trump or Cruz doesnt get the nomination. I’m not voting Gop.
They need to be destroyed.
I’m disappointed that a southern state would resort to blackmail.
Shame on SC!
What about the “Republican” Senator from Alaska, Murkowski, who broke all sorts of rules in her write in campaign in 2010? Her name is much harder to spell than Trump.

am I wrong about that?
