DEVELOPING: An active shooter has been reported at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia, according to multiple local media outlets.
Video from the scene appeared to show a WDBJ media crew being attacked in the midst of a live report. The station confirmed the shooting involved one of its crews.
Police are reporting there are three victims, according to WSLS. The shooting occurred at 6:45 a.m., according to Franklin County Sheriff Department spokesperson Phillip Young.
WSLS said police are still looking for the shooter and hope to have a description out to the public shortly.

They were ambushed. CCW wouldn’t do much good unless a bystander could have taken down the perp.

The reporter and the camera man were engaged.
WDBJ said that Adam Ward was engaged to a WDBJ producer, Melissa Ott. It was her last morning producing the show and there was a celebration earlier in the morning. She planned to move to a new job in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Ward was going to follow here there.
Parker was also dating a WDBJ staffer, one of the morning show anchors.

Exactly. A bystander could have killed the perp on the spot. This shooter will kill again before he is brought down just like the Chatanooga jihadi. Those deaths will be on the witnesses that watched him run off.

Yes, in a longer version of the video there were no other people around, because it was so early in the a.m. That suggests it was planned not spontaneous. I don't think he had a beard, but he was definitely dressed in very dark or black clothing.
Apparently he made a getaway -- I'd look at any surrounding surveillance video to try to get a make on a possible getaway vehicle.

she had just moved in with another reporter at the station/her boyfriend. at only 24 doubt there was an x-husband, but you never know. the heavy set lady was airlifted to the hospital from what I’m reading and hearing on local and national news.

Well yeah he got away. Why there were 40-50 officers on the scene shortly thereafter looking about for a suspect.
Not to be rude, but I cannot help but mention it’s highly likely the cops already figured out looking at any surveillance video in the area would be a fairly smart thing to do.....

There are realistic masks- movie quality - that have been used by bank robbers that conceal sex and race of perp. Including hands. Looks like one of them.
