Well I think that he's sort of a guy that has just a wonderful personality, a good speaker, somebody that people trust."
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump praised president Obama in 2009 in his book Think Like A Champion and on CNN's Larry King Live.
Trump...wrote of Obama in his book, "What he has done is amazing." ...
Trump also wrote he thought Obama "has the mark of a strong leader" and said Obama's comments on the economy "have led me to believe that he understands how the economy works on a comprehensive level." ...
He has also surrounded himself with very competent people...

Well, he was pretty harsh on Obama in 2011 when he published ‘Time to get Tough’... As he worked on the book for a couple of years, I’d say that he was onto Obama pretty early in the man’s first term.
no book takes two years to write, especially when you have ghost writers. And I”m sorry, early in Obama’s first term? I was on to Obama when he ran against Alan Keyes.......in like 02.
Back in 2007/08 I was temporarily banned (three days, if I remember correctly) from this site for an anti-Bush comment I posted. I had finally had [more than] enough and just unleashed on him.
Hmmm. this is the second Trump hit piece from buzzfeed posted here today.
Oh I need to be taught?
Go on with the rest of the cult then. “Make America Great Again” “Yes We Can” “ Hope and Change” - vote Trump, he’ll tell you why later.
So post them. Who's stopping you?
We have to elect him to find out what’s in him.
What does Trump’s hotel in Chicago have to do with him giving $50,000 to an anti-American, anti-freedom, anti-gun, marxist thug like Rahm Emmanuel?
Some people list Republicans Trump has supported and his recent conservative rhetoric as proof of his conservatism. Others list Democrats Trump has supported and past liberal rhetoric as proof of his liberalism. Both sides are equally correct, and equally wrong. Trump is first and foremost a showman, not an ideologue. He likes to stir the pot, whether it's stirred toward the left or the right is of secondary importance to him. This makes him entertaining, and sometimes his comments hit the mark, but it hardly makes him trustworthy.
Believe me, I have no illusions about the situation.
However, even though he is narcissistic, unpolished and has done a hard to believe 180 on so many views, I do believe he loves America in an old fashioned way that has gone out of style.
If he picks Cruz as VP, that will be a good statement.
Although it’s not fair of me to mention Cruz as VP since he is still running for the big spot.
“simply trying to point out that there is much for conservatives to worry about with Trump. People don’t want to hear it. These are different days indeed.”
People are so tired of the establishment. Particularly the GOPe. This is how the teaparty movement started. Even many dems are tired of the establishment, this is why we see many jumping on the Trump bandwagon.
Trump is exposing a lot of the hypocrisy in the GOPe, and the msm; and maybe opening some doors for a real conservative such as Cruz. So this definitely good. So for the time being, I say Go Trump Go. But I am not convinced he is the great conservative we are looking for.
Understood.
I was reacting to that person’s multiple requests/demands that a list of republicans Trump has supported be posted. I was wondering if maybe his/her cut/paste clicking finger is broken or something.
That's good. However it doesn't negate his support for Schumer, Hillary, Harry Reid, Charlie Rangel, Daschle, Kennedy, Dodd, Biden
Last year I finished a book that took 2 years to write and I don’t have a job.
Measuring conservatism is a lost art...In the insular FR environment anyone who shouts I am more conservative than you seems to rule the day.Once night falls a new game is started.
I think the whole RINO meme is a stupid waste of time.
Compared to a lot of Republicans Romney and McCaine ARE on the right and compared to others they ARE on the left ..so who is the Republican in name only?
Bush was a decent honorable man (that followed Bill Clinton who was pond scum) whether you or anyone liked this or that policy means nothing. He did what he thought was right and you cannot ask for more from any human.
The big “TRUE CONSERVATIVE” everyone on FR seeks is a fantasy...Once you find him and coronate him you will find lots people on here who don’t think he is conservative enough
LOL, right - I should have directed my comments about Trump's donations to Catsrus rather than to you.
We’ve been electing people for the past few years who SAY ALL THE RIGHT THINGS then get to Washington and do NOTHING.
How many times have YOU heard Republicans talk about protecting the border? Or about STOPPING illegals?
Or about backing our military and protecting our wounded vets?
You’ve heard it for years... and NOTHING happens.
We’ve been waiting FOREVER. The political consultant class puts up ‘shoe salesmen’ to run - then puts the right buzz phrases in their mouths and YOU ChesseFood vote for them. That’s fine... stay with the people who know the ‘right things to say’ (yes there is a conservative PC) to fool people - to con them out of their vote. Dems do it worse - but we do it too.
I’m tired of that...
If Trump builds the wall... makes 5 ‘deals’ with other countries that don’t rape our workers, builds up our military and protects our vets - it’ll be enough.
I can assure you that the modest list above will be more than all the rest of the Republicans have done the past twenty years... If you prefer we can send one page of the bullsh*t buzz phrases Republican say but ‘forget’ when they get to Washington...
With most politicians, you aren't privy to their thoughts and don't know what their motives really are, so all you can honestly go on is their policies. Since I don't know any of them on a personal basis, I base my like or dislike of elected officials solely on the policies they support.
By all accounts Jimmy Carter was also a well-intentioned man who did what he thought was right while in office, and everyone who knows him personally finds him likable and decent. So what? Good intentions and a pleasant personality don't change the fact that Carter was a lousy President. Similarly, Bush may or may not be a decent person, I can't say because I don't know the man. I can say that many of the policies he supported were terrible.
