Well I think that he's sort of a guy that has just a wonderful personality, a good speaker, somebody that people trust."
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump praised president Obama in 2009 in his book Think Like A Champion and on CNN's Larry King Live.
Trump...wrote of Obama in his book, "What he has done is amazing." ...
Trump also wrote he thought Obama "has the mark of a strong leader" and said Obama's comments on the economy "have led me to believe that he understands how the economy works on a comprehensive level." ...
He has also surrounded himself with very competent people...

What does that have to do with anything? I have been accused of being a Bush basher. I just don’t see how that is relevant now.
Only an idiot can claim otherwise. Are you saying you're okay with the next president being so gullible with hope verses reason?
That’s it! I’m done with Trump! I read that a post on FR can’t change someone’s mind!
Keep hammering away Super D! I’m enjoying the show.
“Quoting from the past is a liberal trick... “
Boy, who knew that EVERY SINGLE FREEPER EVER uses liberal tricks?
“Most people change their minds with new information...”
Actually, people that aren’t tethered to any set of principles do that.
Excellent post.
Trump is a political chameleon. If it's fashionable to hate on the GOP in the 2000s then he's there, if it's hip to support a socialist senator in 2008 then he'll do it and if it's cool to rag on a failed Obama presidency then he'll join the crowd. I appreciate what Trump has done against Bush, Rubio and Walker as I feel that they're horrible establishment candidates, but Trump's history of inconsistency on the issues raises a major red flag with me.
Now show us the Republican candidates he has supported. This is all one sided and biased.
I’m just waiting for the Trump supporters to break out “Don’t you believe in second chances?”, backed with pictures of sad puppies.
Maybe that will move my cold, cold heart into forgiving Trump’s liberal past :)
Ask him what the “new information” was that change his mind...
There’s been absolutely nothing new about where Obama’s been coming from.
Any money to the enemy is just that, money and support to the enemy.
His money was part of what got us the bunch that passed Obamacare.
lol
he’s not a conservative. That is the reason I won’t support him.
I want his contributions to Republicans to also be posted. Fair and balanced, you know? I don’t think you have that info because you want to do a hit piece.
I do not disagree with anything you wrote in your Post #46, although I must say never gave Obama the benefit of the doubt. I never even HAD a doubt as to what he was all about.
With that said, while I like what Mr. Trump is [now] saying, I do not trust him to stick to his new beliefs and to actually do what he [currently] says he will do.
Always Always Always....quote from the future.
So Trump had some initial goodwill for the nation's first black President? Big, fat, hairy deal.
Trump has been pretty unequivocal in recent years regarding 0bama's shortcomings. Some good wishes in 0bama's first 90 days is what Trump's critics are going to try to hang their hat on?
Try again...
You are wrong. We didn’t have the House or Senate when Obamacare was passed and Harry Reid pulled a dirty trick anyway. It probably wouldn’t have mattered even if we had Congress - they would have bent over and passed it for obama anyway. I don’t understand some people’s logic - if that’s what you call it.
Trump put the money in place so that the Republicans would lose during those times.
You don’t understand that? Trump gave money to the Democrats. Those Democrats passed Obamacare.
With the Congress that has constantly passed bills to de-fund Obamacare.. I don’t understand peoples lack of long term memory.
I mostly lurk, but I wanted to let you know that you have consistently pretty closely mirrored my thoughts this election season, and that I therefore appreciate you speaking reasonably on behalf of those (or maybe just you and me) not all aboard the Trump train...yet, we’ll see.
George Bush gave us Obama and the DEMS. I can’t seem to get that through your head. Look at the money Romney took in - he still didn’t win. Just giving money doesn’t mean someone gets elected. Brush up on your political savvy.
Either that or I posted a link to all contributions. You must have missed it.
Maybe when you click on it, Trump's contributions to "Friends of Hillary" will have disappeared.
