I'm getting pretty tired of this line and I'd like to point out how ridiculous it actually is, by way of analogy.
Ever been on the highway? Ever notice all those folks going over the speed limit? (I'm one of them, by the way.)
Imagine if the govt broadcast "We can't possibly pull over millions of speeders every day!" and, to top it off, make good on not doing it.
I believe you'd be seeing a lot more speeders on the road. Especially if they never see anyone getting pulled over for it.
Since it is actually true that there are not enough resources to pull over everyone, what the govt does instead is:
1) pull over who they can, limited by resources.
2) occasionally broadcast public service announcements such as "We're going to step up enforcement of speeding this holiday weekend..."
But what do they do for illegal immigration is -
1) Broadcast "We Can't Possibly Deport Millions of Illegals..."
How stupid can you be? It's really no wonder folks stream in.
If this was only broadcast on the democrat side of politics, it'd just be another ridiculous leftist argument.
But since the repub majority adds their voice to the choir, it becomes a ridiculous form of government.
How many have put out a definitive position paper on immigration? Only two, Santorum and Trump. Some like Jeb Bush can't say the word "wall." I can't find on the Ted Cruz for President site anything about immigration or securing the border.
Deportation is part of enforcing the law, yet most of the candidates say very little about laws they want to enforce. Most support legalizing the lawbreakers, i.e., amnesty.
We just currently have a lawless President whos ordering those laws not be enforced.
Sounds like grounds for impeachment. Who is the Rep controlled Congress is holding him accountable for his actions? This "lawless" President was just given TPA authority and Congress ceded their authority on treaties allowing Obama to pass the Iran deal with just 34 votes.
In 2012 Obama had an executive amnesty for the Dreamers. To date, 580,000 have received SSNs and work permits. Nary a peep from the Reps. In fact, Eric Cantor wanted to propose a Rep version of the Dream Act.
The reality is that the GOPe wants amnesty and open borders. And almost all of the Rep candidates support it to one degree or another, including Cruz.
Don’t you know we aren’t supposed to notice all that, not supposed to concern ourselves with that. We are supposed to sit down, shut up, and vote for whoever the party picks for us!
Your summary of the whole ordeal is lazy, so I’ll be lazy and just pull a Trump and call it lazy and promise to explain it later!
Cruz want to legalize the lawbreakers here and to increase by threefold the number of guest workers. And he has not expressed any interest in reducing legal immigration. No comparison to Trump's plan. Cruz leaves a lot to be desired on immigration.
So hope and change and yes we can. I understand now.
Since the Reps have lost the popular vote in five out of the last 6 elections, maybe they should try something different.
We did it in 1954. Why not again now? Just Google "Operation Wetback" and learn some useful history.
