Trump widens lead over U.S. Republican presidential field: Reuters poll (Now 32% pulling away)

Republican Donald Trump is pulling away from the pack in the race for the party's U.S. presidential nomination, widening his lead over his closest rivals in the past week, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Friday.

Republican voters show no signs they are growing weary of the brash real estate mogul, who has dominated political headlines and the 17-strong Republican presidential field with his tough talk about immigration and insults directed at his political rivals. The candidates are vying to be nominated to represent their party in the November 2016 general election.

Nearly 32 percent of Republicans surveyed online said they backed Trump, up from 24 percent a week earlier, the opinion poll found. Trump had nearly double the support of his closest competitor, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who got 16 percent. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson was third at 8 percent.

Even when Trump was pitted directly in the poll against just his top two competitors, 44 percent backed him. Bush won about 29 percent of respondents, and Carson 25 percent.

"He's not taking any guff from anybody," Dewey Stedman, 70, a Republican from East Wenatchee, Washington, said of the publicity-loving billionaire. "If you don't have something in your brains, you're not going to have billions of dollars."

Do you believe the BS you are posting? Seriously? Or are you simply drinking of the MSM Kool-Aid?

Trump throws out semi-Conservative sound bites, a bunch of hyperbole, and yet has yet to distance himself form HIS OWN WORDS -

You actually trust a man who has repeatedly and publicly stated he identifies himself as a Democrat (and this in light of the current hyper-Left version of the Democrat Party). This is the same Trump who has made very troubling statements regarding the 2nd Amendment (he favors “gun control”). The same Trump who has advocated FOR government health care. The same Trump who has backed Planned Parenthood, and believes in abortion in genera (tough has cut back on the statements to that effect recently).

And before you throw the Karl Rove garbage - you better check your own issues - an old deacon friend of mine use to call it “constipation of the brain and diarrhea of the mouth”.

FR use to be a place where most were well-informed (far more so than the general population) and for those who were seeking to become better informed.

And by the way - I despise Karl Rove - he is a pox on the Republican Party - one that is a cancer on this nation. I actually come closer to trusting some Democrats than Rove. At least some democrats are not afraid to admit they are extreme Leftist, God-hating, sociopaths...

Don’t you know it does no good? You’re wasting your time. Just wait...it will take care of itself...don’t know how, but it always does.

Give us some odds, like say, 32:16 (AKA, 2:1), Trump.

I’ll pony up a $20 donation today with another $20 when Jeb! loses or drops out before the RNC.

(See how I can secretly keep my money on Cruz?)

:: a man who has repeatedly and publicly stated he identifies himself as a Democrat ::

Keep in mind that MANY Democrats are not “Dhimmicrats”.
Taqiyya, for Truman Democrats is not a “lifestyle choice”.

These may be known as “Reagan Democrats” or, by political association, “Truman Democrats” (of which, JFKennedy was the last standing member) that want only the best for the USA - to maintain the appellation that the USA is the greatest coutry ever devised on Earth. And, yes, there aren’t as many of those Truman Democrats today as in 1980.

But, if Trump can frame his ideology into promoting a more ^robust^ USA, regardless of party affiliation, why not?

Truman Democrats are ->->-> way to the right ->->-> of the current Dhimmicrats in congress today.

BTW...I’d prefer Cruz as POTUS.

Like the Japanese did with the attack on Pearl Harbor, Trump has awakened a SLEEPING GIANT. The ‘Silent Majority’ is no longer silent. Time to take this country back.

How, exactly, does this have anything to do with Trump? He was a rabid Hillary supporter last time around - he funded her campaign. He identified with the CURRENT Democrat party... not some Truman-esque ancient history fantasy version of the Democrat Party. The Democrats of the 21st Century are God-hating, Capitalism-hating, gun-hating, Constitution-hating, Bible-hating, infanticide-praising, Homosexual-loving, Satanic Cult. Trump gleefully self-identified with THIS Democrat Party. Period. Enough said.

And I too am a fan of Cruz. Pretty much the only guy on the list that I could vote for without having to bite my lip or hold my breath.

“been saying for years”... Trump has been self-identifying as a Democrat for years. Trump has been supporting Democrat candidates for years. Trump has repeatedly taken the Liberal-Left position on important issues for years... a proven track record of supporting NON-conservative positions ... what a great qualification for the GOP nomination...

Trump can be categorized, appropriately, as a Truman Democrat more so than a Reagan Democrat.

He isn’t conservative by the common, modern meaning but he still has the interest of the Constitution in mind.

Again, I am a Cruz supporter.
