Mediaite and Politico are running headlines for this segment claiming that Trump said the Fourteenth Amendment is unconstitutional, which is cute but unfair. What he's saying, in his own...folksy way, is that he thinks the Supremes will side with him in finding that birth right citizenship under the Constitution doesn't apply to children of illegals. What's newsy is him implying that that ruling should apply not just prospectively but retroactively ("I don't think they have American citizenship") meaning that many thousands of people - some now adults - who have lived all their lives in America would suddenly find themselves stateless.

Don't switch to: "I don't think they should have American citizenship."
Who here is for retroactively stripping away citizenship or is in favor of or supports saying that the children born to illegals never had citizenship in the first place?
Nothing stateless about them. They're citizens or subjects of wherever they snuck in from. What's hard about that? They'll go back there with a boatload of skills, sophistication, and contacts here that will give them a huge advantage in their home country. I don't see what's not to like.
Okay, there's one thing. That scenario I just sketched probably applies to many of the gangsters as well.
Should Trump keep saying this throughout the primaries - that which Hot Air (and that which is on Google News - Google the words “trump I don’t think children born here to illegals”) quotes him as saying?
How could they ever have lawful citizenship when they never had lawful presence to begin with?
So if they were born to illegal aliens even 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 years ago (or even 1 year ago) you are saying that they never had citizenship in the first place or that they should have it stripped away from them if they have papers that say they are a U.S. citizen?
. . . And I don’t think there’s a choice about the principle applying to anchor babies as well. Sometimes you have to move. Happens all the time throughout history. The smart, energetic ones will find a way to prosper, or maybe improve their home countries.
I'll say it.
Children born to illegal aliens never had US citizenship in the first place!!!
Send them, and their parents, back to whatever third-world cesspool they came from.
Seriously: what part of "illegal" don't you folks get?
Read post #6.
Do you agree with either scenario or do you support either scenario?
Trump supporters need to say where they stand on this!
And keep saying it!!!
You better get in line for naturalization. LMAO
God you are a tiresome troll
DEPORT THEM ALL....including illegal rumpswabs like yourself.
My question is what is he actually saying. I have heard him speak a couple of times and I have seen the typical news sound bites. I have yet to hear him say those already born in America are not citizens (or anything meaning that). I really don’t have any trust for the news outlets, even so-called conservative news outlets.
BTW, we also deport assholes who lied about being concentration camp guards.
Children born to illegal aliens never had US citizenship in the first place!!!
When it comes down to the letter of the 14th Amendment, there is a growing number of Constitutional experts who will agree with Trump. Mark Levin opens up his files and lists a few:
Congress has the authority to determine this, and, sadly, the law is that anchor babies are US Citizens.
Such is not, however, a requirement of the 14th Amendment.
