Iran's Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan on Tuesday gave a run-down of the army's upcoming military buildup, and revealed that a new fighter jet announced in February has been delivered to the Iranian Air Force.
Dehqan said the domestic double-cockpit supersonic Saeqeh 2 jets - whose name means "Thunderbolt" - have been deployed, reports the semi-official Fars News Agency.
The jet, unveiled in February, is meant to be capable of tracing American and Israeli fighter jets according to the paper, which cited a senior Air Force commander Col. Houshang Monfaredzadeh saying as much back in February.

With guns on guns the P51 would wax them. I flew several Air Combat USA flights and during the pre-flight instructions the head guy said that air combat is basically fought in an egg shaped fight, where the turn radius always benefits the most agile and the vertical benefits the fastest. But when the fast one goes vertical they’ve got to come down and guess who’s waiting for them? I’ve waxed several airline pilots who would do what we call martini turns, turns that are gradual and low g’s .... I’ve always turned into them and burned them every time.
Yep, just wait for them to climb up to altitude and then burn them.
In the 1948 war for independence, Israeli pilots in Messerschmitt 109s were shooting down Egyptians flying Spitfires.
What’s the combat victory record for Iranian pilots, hmmm?
Good thing Iran doesn’t know about the new disrupters Iran would have to face with their new planes.
Iran, of course, has an institutional culture of fighter pilots and ground crews, and plenty of top notch instructors who are fluent in Farsi and are at home in the Shiite environment, not at all minding such holidays as slash-your-kid’s-face day, Ramadan, or slaughter-a-goat day, who will not freak out and need to go back to Mother Russia.
We probably come up with a new disrupter every other week. I bet Israeli high school students design disrupters for science projects.
You speak of design. Where were the planes actually manufactured?
Did the Russians build and sell new F5 knockoffs?
In all seriousness, let us see the production facility. If they don't they are modifying the F-5's IMHO and did anyone take a look at the fairing to support these new twin canted rudders? It is a KLUDGE and I wouldn't be surprised it raised Drag through the moon.
So the question begs is this a publicity stunt and an EPIC FAIL all around....
No worry our aircraft carriers have been pulled from the Persian Gulf waters,so there you got them fancy jets for Nothing,HAHA!
No they were not manufactured by Iran . They were “kit-bashed” from existing F-5s that we sold Iran long ago. They probably had to put in different engines, too. Whether or not the Iranians will be able reverse engineer the F-5 and build them in Iran remains to be seen.
The Russians would not sell F-5 knock offs. They’d sell MiG-29s, or maybe older fighters like re-conditioned MiG-23s.
Iran has been indulging all sorts of propaganda events. They have tried mounting a HAWK missile on an F-14, built a small scale “stealth fighter” mockup, and now this. I think this is more for their public consumption that for ours.
Is this a bad time to tell Iran that all bullets and bombs at some point have women making them?
So when an American weapon does something and a radical Islamic Rapist Murder dies, a woman was involved in killing them. No afterlife...
Put a used sanitary napkin on every missile fired at Iran.
“Is this a bad time to tell Iran that all bullets and bombs at some point have women making them?”
LOL. Has anyone told them that women make 100% of all babies, and that men only get to help?
