Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday staked out her opposition to Arctic oil exploration, a day after the Obama administration gave Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) final approval to drill off Alaska.
"The Arctic is a unique treasure," Clinton said in a Twitter post. "Given what we know, it's not worth the risk of drilling."
On Monday, the Obama administration gave Shell final approval to resume drilling into the oil zone off northern Alaska for the first time since 2012.
Shell obtained the leases during the administration of former President George W. Bush.

What exactly do we know?
It will lead to:
1. Lower gas prices
2. Less reliance on foreign oil
3. A boost to the economy through job creation
What's not to like?
Environmentalists oppose the drilling, saying any spill would harm walruses, whales, and polar bears in a region scientists say is already vulnerable to climate change.
Oh, yes, the old save the polar bears and climate change is killing us lies.
You’ve got to respect the fact that she knows a lot about not allowing drilling in frigid environs.
A god knows everything.
I'm green. Just check with the IRS.
Who is we Hillary? Given what you know, I'm more qualified to discuss the Quantum Theory than you are to comment on drilling in the Arctic. And the last class I took on Physics was back in high school.
“Clinton says Arctic drilling ‘not worth the risk’”
That’s what Bill said...ain’t touched the ice hag in decades.
Oh, different subject...never-mind.
The implication is that coal production is not worth it either. The trip between opposing arctic drilling and continued shut down is quite short and easily made.
Given what we know, it’s not worth the risk of sailing those three ships to nowhere...........
So said her ancestors to the King and Queen of some European country more than 500 years ago ???

Paging Sarah Palin...Paging Sarah Palin.

The only oil Hillary knows anything about is the stuff her and Huma use...

President Obama has opposed any expanded oil drilling off American shores largely on environmental grounds.
But now Obama may start hearing cries of "foul" after the U.S. Export-Import Bank promised Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned oil company, $2 billion in loan guarantees to help finance lucrative drilling off the shores of Rio De Janeiro.
Some see a contradiction in an executive branch agency, facilitating abroad the very kind of energy exploration Obama opposes domestically.
Then there is the George Soros angle.
The New York-based hedge fund firm controlled by the billionaire philanthropist and backer of Democratic causes and campaigns bought and sold millions of shares in Petrobras -- the largest of the firm's holdings -- prior to public disclosure of the Export-Import bank's offer of new credit guarantees to the Brazilian energy giant.
Some say the transactions do not pass the "smell test."
“The Arctic is a unique treasure,”
Sayeth Queen Frigid
Ouch.
As an aside, her running for the (p)resident ain’t worth the risk but she’s doin’ it anyway. And the risk is to the country.
Let’s leave it to the Russians, Scandinavians and Canadians to take the risk.
A society that is unwilling to take risks is stagnant at best.
Has she done a campaign event with the Amish yet? It seems that that should be the Democrat’s base since that’s how they’d prefer we live. (not how the elite like her and Gore should live but how all us commoners should live)
Exactly, if they are already doomed by climate change, the drilling should be okay.
