The EPA, which was overseeing the servicing of the mine, had previously said an unnamed outside contractor was using heavy equipment when it accidentally triggered a breach in the abandoned Gold King Mine, letting out wastewater that had built up inside it.

"Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, himself a former geologist, visited a contaminated stretch of river Tuesday and said he hopes a silver lining to the disaster will be a more aggressive state and federal effort to deal with minings legacy of pollution across the West."
no such thing as an accident. Its all premeditated
Can I ask a stupid question? What were they doing digging around an abandoned mine in the first place? Given the sheer volume of water there, how the heck could they realistically attempt to remove and clean up all that sludge???
And why is the news media not pushing this story more? Given how much angst the liberals and the media tend to have about the environment and despoiling mother earth and all that, this story doesn’t tseem to be getting a lot of attention.
I certainly appreciate this little news from the Wall Street Urinal. Now we know that the entity responsible for the spill is not the hallowed EPA, but a filthy for profit contractor from Fenton, Missouri. Environmental Restoration LLC.
Since this spill is not going to be part of Mother Earth’s rehabilitation plan as was the Gulf spill this one is going to cost several times as much to fix. Do any of you think Environmental Restoration LLC or the sainted Environmental Protection Agency are going to be held responsible?
The EPA employs an army of weasels.
The downside of crony capitalism is going to become obvious to Environmental Restoration. As obvious as a city bus. The one they are about to be thrown under.
From "The Simpsons Movie."
EPA Soldier: I'm afraid we lost them, sir.
Cargill: Damn it! Well, then you find 'em, and you get 'em back in the dome! And to make sure nobody else gets out, I want roving death squads around the perimeter 24-7! I want 10,000 tough guys, and I want 10,000 soft guys to make the tough guys look tougher! And here's how I want them arranged: tough, soft, tough, tough, soft, tough, soft, soft, tough, tough, soft, soft, tough, soft, tough, soft!
[pause] Soldier: Sir, I'm afraid you've gone mad with power.
Cargill: Of course I have. Have you ever tried going mad without power? It's boring, no one listens to you.
Lowest bidder? I imagine the politicians wanted their cut.
The real issue is not about the environment.
The EPA wanted more money and power over businesses & people.
They thought that this created mess would help get super fund status [ money & power ] to the government.
A week before The EPA disastrously leaked millions of gallons of toxic waste into The Animas River in Colorado, this letter to the editor was published in The Silverton Standard & The Miner local newspaper, authored by a retired geologist [ 47 years of experience as a professional geologist ] detailing verbatim, how EPA would foul the Animas River on purpose in order to secure superfund money..

I imagine they’ll get another BIG MONEY contract to clean up the Animas.
Like most [ all ? ] leftie schemes, there are kickbacks.
and the EPA is trying to cheat Navajo Indians by getting them to sign away their rights to future claims ..

What a pathetic mess Gina McCarthy and the EPA has caused with this fiasco.
She, the enviros and the Rats are trying to play the environmental damage down on this but I’d wager they’ll get a super fund out of it.
Corruption from the WH down, heads need to roll.
Never letting a crisis go to waste.
I wanna know who said, “Dig here!”
Did The EPA Intentionally Poison Animas River To Secure SuperFund Money?
