Smoking increases your risk for virtually ALL cancers. Carter has been a non-smoker so long that the cause of cancer is not from smoking; it’s a geriatric disease of old age. Liver cancer is usually not a primary cancer.

Its liver, not lung. I'd have guessed, not exactly wildly, brain cancer. Slow onset, probably began as Governor... or earlier.

AFAIK, I don’t think he ever smoked, but his family has a history of cancer, given that history it’s amazing he made it to 90.

Some people deserve cancer, as kind of a karma thing. But those who do deserve it are the most evil among us. Jimmy Carter was a terrible president, and an even worse ex-president; but he does not fall into the category of someone who deserves cancer. I hope and pray his suffering is brief, and hopefully he can avoid it altogether.
By the way, I am a cancer patient.

I can remember when this guy was the worst President in my lifetime. That changed in 2009.
That being said, I don’t wish this on him. Hopefully his condition will improve.

Frankly, I am surprised his cancer has taken so long to surface. He lost his mother, brother and a sister to pancreatic cancer. I have been surprised that he didn’t develop pancratic cancer. But liver is closely related. He was a terrible president, but I don’t wish anyone pain and suffering.
