Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul lashed out at Donald Trump during a campaign event Saturday in South Carolina, arguing conservatives can’t trust the New York businessman because he has “been on both sides of every issue.”
“My goodness,” Paul said in Goose Creek to the Berkeley County GOP. “He’s been on both sides of every issue. Where is our sense? Where is our common sense?”
Added the Kentucky senator: “This is a guy who has been pro-choice before he was pro-life. This is a guy who was liberal before he was conservative. This is a guy who was a Democrat before he was a Republican before he was a Democrat before he was an independent before he was back to being a Republican.”
“I have no idea if he’s conservative,” Paul said. “We are kidding ourselves to even consider someone who is such a chameleon that he’s been on every side of every issue. Wake up America. Wake up Republicans!”
Paul and Trump have been feuding since the senator went on offense against Trump during Thursday’s Republican debate.
“How can we have Tea Party conservatives in our country think somehow Donald Trump is going to help us?” Paul said. “He’s the consummate insider. What’s wrong with Washington? People buying and selling politicians. What’s Donald Trump known for? Buying and selling politicians.”

I don’t want to correct you, because I think your views are fairly solid. Naturally I’m going to think that because we agree over all. I will give you a slight tweak on your last thought.
Providing Trump did get elected to the presidency, these are the two vehicles for doing it. Which is best.
I believe there are two bodies of thought on third party as it relates to a viable opposition to the Democrat party.
1. Go third party and start over. Bring in good people and build from the ground up with Conservatism as the guiding principle.
I see some problems with this. If you do this, who is your ally in the Senate and House? To get legislation passed, you need team players over there. Now this reality may set some people off, but remember, the President sets policy. His party in Congress generally rubber stamps it.
I’m not convinced this is the right way to go.
2. Remain within the Republican structure. Install new people. Change the party for the better.
I see some problems with this. Ronald Reagan changed things. He went against his own party and drove through much of his agenda. And then what happened. Within four years we were back to Dull, Bush, McStain, and Romney.
I’m not convinced this is right the way to go.

And in the Drudge poll of over half a million votes he got only 6% not bad but under what he expected.
If you truly believe that, you are delusional. Rand was pounded into the floor and made himself appear even smaller than he is in actuality.
Rand can't make himself taller by attempting to cut down someone else.
I meant Mexicans, lol. But I do yell at myself on occasion.
Rand backed Mitch not Bevin, and Mitch is doing the Reid agenda voting against what Cruz wants.

I think Jeb already said he'd rather risk losing to hillary than have Trump as nominee. I fear that's what passes for mainstream Republican thought. Better to lose (again) with a bad candidate (again) than to share power in the party with Constitutional Conservatives.
So I'll submit that it's a matter of being on top of quickly moving events. If open season on conservative reformers ends, it might be worth saving the Republican Party and work from within.
But if this level of venom against Trump is what we get, why bother saving the party? This isn't new. It's the same kind of thinking that kept Murkowski and Cocharan in the US Senate. If they keep this up against Trump and vote down every conservative issue, we're like the abused wife who won't leave for fear of what lies ahead.

I agree with that. And we have a history going back to Goldwater with the main stream party not getting it. I may have that dynamic skewed, but I do know in 1980 Reagan was not the party leadership favorite. They wanted no part of him.
He set back their globalist plans at least 8 years.
Bush’s “One World Order” comment made that crystal clear.
He sure does. And he may bomb out on us too.
I still say we have to give him a chance.
