NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police are responding to a call of an active shooter at the Carmike 8 Cinemas on Bell Road in Antioch.

The incident occurred just after 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Dispatch confirmed three EMS units have been sent to the scene.

Witnesses at a nearby business reported one person covered with blood.

[ Wow! Theater shootings are all the rage after all the publicity the Colorado theater shooter got.

Maybe the answer is to not publicize these events. I realize that would defang the antis but it may save lives. ]

Or show a film in every movie theater across the country starring James Holmes being drawn and slowly quartered while the shooting victim survivors mist this open wounds with a mixture of lemon juice and salt water.

But we have laws preventing cruel and unusual punishment so it is not gonna happen.

Probably better like you said to not publicize these shootings.

Woman working at the Sprint store nearby said there were a lot of homeless people in that area.

Just a guess, based on history: history of mental illness, living out of his backpacks on the streets, history of family trouble because he’s a loon and they can’t force him to accept treatment. He gets increasingly worse, until it ends today.

Thank God he didn’t kill anyone.

One dead suspect yet in that image they have enough equipment and resources for multiple wounded. Hook and ladder? And it appears this is long after the incident was over as the press has already set up. Seems a bit odd.

Likely doing a follow up bomb search as well.

Bomb? If that were the case it would seem the press and people wandering around in the pic of the immediate area wouldn’t have been there. They generally set up safe containment perimeters when things are active like possibly explosive searches.

Who knows, maybe all the equipment was for the few exposed to pepper spray. Of course treatment for that entails blinking fast and soapy water.

The reason I bought it is because so many responding departments are over staff. So much equipment and personnel it’s not surprising to see 5 vehicles and entire crews of people showing and hanging around incidents like minor vehicle collisions.

Outside is likely safe. Inside is where they would be searching. The theater and adjoining stores. It would take some manpower.

Been watching CNN. On their panel of three experts, theaters were described, like other entertainment venues as “soft targets” because of their density and few exits.

None mentioned that they are usually gun free zones, which makes anyone in them a sitting duck.

Also, the police said that the front backpack had a faux bomb, something made to look like a bomb.

Agreed, and same here. Families of many old white men will also probably stay home more, and families of several other kinds of men, too. It's too dangerous out there in many ways.

Maybe we won't call it a general boycott and strike, though. Maybe we'll call it nonpolitical politics, as was done in Czechoslovakia and Poland in a similar situation. No more debt/revenues for them. Let them all be laid off in the default process.
