Three North Carolina men fearing a government takeover and martial law stockpiled weapons, ammunition and tactical gear while attempting to rig home-made explosives, according to charges announced by the Justice Department on Monday.
The men from Gaston County, near Charlotte, were arrested by federal authorities on Saturday after more than a month's investigation.
Walter Eugene Litteral, 50, Christopher James Barker, 41, and Christopher Todd Campbell, 30, are accused of stockpiling guns and ammunition, as well as attempting to manufacture pipe bombs and live grenades from military surplus "dummy" grenades, according to the statement by Acting U.S. District Attorney Jill Westmoreland Rose and FBI Special Agent in Charge John Strong.

“Im selling off my tools this weekend at a local gunshow...”
Hmmm, sounds like you are getting ready for the Rapture? :)
Yep. Some folks are gonna need good tools to survive what follows the departure.
No guns here, sir (tragic boating accident)
“Only if you fall in the category of mentally deficient. Which, btw is coming to people like us so that can seize what we have.”
yes this is the mental illness scam (loop hole). Believing in Jesus means your mentally ill. no guns for you.

My first thought was that these dumbasses had no OPSEC.
“OPSEC? OPSEC?”
“WE DOAN’ NEED NO STEENKEN OPSEC!”
Prep quietly, folks. Prep quietly!
And, don’t get hooked up with someone who has had his/her 2A restricted due to legal difficulties!
Is it against the law to own .338 Lapua ammo?
The Feds nabbed a guy for manufacturing explosives in his garage in Maryland several years ago. He actually WAS making fireworks, but they convicted him anyway.
what about those muslim training camps? Don’t they have stockpiles?
...background check.
Yep.
I would bet just about any amount of money that the majority of “work” done on explosives was performed by someone being paid by the government.
It depends on the sort of struggle one expects to have.
Going by now-classic guerrilla strategy, the first target of the guerrilla aren’t policemen and soldiers, but the enemy civilians and officials. Then one controls the people.
Stages beyond that are a little difficult to plan and stockpile for. No point worrying about stage 2 until stage 1 is implemented.
And it is much better to do it later when there are no emergency rooms around to help in case of an "oops!"
No. Because you'll be taking the real thing from ferals, if you live.
It is according as to who owns the firearms and ammo. Black Panther Party members and muslims are o.k. Others, not so much.
It seems to me the way to discourage people prepping for martial law is to not take people prepping for martial law seriously (unless a crazy person who claims to be prepping for martial law commits a violent crime, in which case, they should be tried for the violent crime, not the prepping).
The way to suggest that the people prepping for martial law have legitimate concerns is to arrest and charge them.
like Eric Holder?
Simple, to the point, and worth repeating.
First Rule of Prep Club: you do not talk about Prep Club.
Second Rule of Prep Club: you DO NOT talk about Prep Club.
Third Rule of Prep Club: If someone says SHTF, do a shot.
Fourth Rule of Prep Club: No more than two people to a retreat; one of them must be a buxom blonde co-ed for repopulating the species.
Fifth Rule of Prep Club: No tie-dye shirts, no socks with sandals, no Birkenstocks, no hipsters.
Sixth Rule of Prep Club: Prepping will go on as long as it has to.
Seventh Rule of Prep Club: Only one BOL at a time.
Eighth Rule of Prep Club: If this is your first time to Prep Club, you HAVE to buy all other preppers a shot.
“Prepping becomes more criminalized.”
“It does if you’re making straw man purchases for felons or manufacturing explosives.”
Yes, the headline is misleading. Both committed criminal acts, one already being a felon and the other helping the felon get a gun and both manufacturing home made bombs.
No where did it say how many prepping bags of rice and beans and coffee they had so I presume their “preps” were only guns/illegal gun/ammo/illegal mass destruction explosives.
I prep because Homeland Security and FEMA told me it was a good thing to be prepared for an emergency. Thank goodness the federal government tells me what to do and I do it. s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s/s
