President Obama signed a three-month highway bill Friday while chastising Congress for failing to approve long-term transportation funding and other legislative business before lawmakers’ summer vacation.
“We can’t keep on funding transportation by the seat of our pants,” Mr. Obama told reporters in the Oval Office. “It’s a bad way for the U.S. government to do business. I guarantee you that’s not how China, Germany and other countries around the world handle their infrastructure.”

China does it with manual laborers paid a pittance and many of their projects don’t benefit the people anyway. They have trash and dead animals in their rivers, raw sewage pumped into them.
I think I read that there have been 34 of these short term bills....which brings us into the past when the Dems had both houses.

In all seriousness, I think he wanted a six-year plan.
Only a small portion of that money was actually allocated for “shovel-ready” highway jobs.
Not even some libs liked that idea, noting that it committed Congress to spending beyond not only the president’s term but their own terms.

Anything you want to do, fund, order or even think about, I want to stop.

Funny ow all the last-minute/continuing resolution/no budget crap really began in earnest under Dingy Harry as he and the Dims opted to go that route to protect Obama’s back and make it easier than ever for taxpayer money to disappear down the toilet....and Obama had no problem with it.
