I started noticing Cecil the Lion trending on Facebook and Twitter at some point yesterday afternoon. By the evening, it was the most popular topic on social media, and stories about the lion were popping up on all of the national news sites.
Before I took the time to investigate, I tried to imagine if there could be any valid reason for a wild cat to become the biggest news item in the world. On a day when another undercover video revealed Planned Parenthood dismembering murdered children for profit, I strained to think if there might be some justification for ignoring the harvesting of human beings in favor of obsessing over a large feline in Africa.
I thought maybe the lion had cured cancer, or sprouted wings and flown into space, or stood on its hind legs and recited the Gettysburg Address. Surely, these developments would vindicate the disproportionate amount of attention it was receiving. But I quickly found out that the lion, from Zimbabwe, had done no such thing. Apparently, all it did was die.

Yeah, caring about dead lions means you can get outraged at Republicans.
Caring about dead people means something else entirely, doesn’t it.
The only reason this stupid lion story is being turned into what it has is because it fits the “Bully White Euro/American Man Exploits Poor African Nation” guilt meme that has been pounded into people’s heads for generations. People are so brainwashed by this that they don’t even know it. And those who perpetuate this psyche absolutely love how easily they can manipulate large groups of empty headed twits. And man do they have a perfect platforms to do it. Facebook, Twitter, Reddit. Where hordes of souless zombies look for their daily feeding of meaningless drivel to make themselves feel of value.
“Of all the marks of modernity that seem to mean a kind of decadence, there is none more menacing and dangerous that the exaltation of very small and secondary matters of conduct at the expense of very great and primary ones, at the expense of eternal ties and tragic human morality. If there is one thing worse than the modern weakening of major morals, it is the modern strengthening of minor morals.” - GK Chesterton
It is based on the Neo-Colonialism idea - The White european Descendants even in America come to Africa and kill our nationalism by killing a honorable lion hat was lured from his homeland and murdered by a compound bow. Gee the Americans are like the Indians and are so barbaic that they use a bow and arrow to kill Zimbabawae’s National Treasure Cecil named after Cecil Rhodes (Rhodes scholarship) > But do not remind us in Rhodesia I mean Zimbabawae that Rhodes exploited Africans too.
Come now Lions Lives Matter but babies they are a dime a dozen is they thinking of the liberal talkin head.
Well, this means the number of white hunters in Africa will go down to zero for a few years, or longer.
Since lions and other large animals, elephants and hippos especially, kill thousands of Africans each year, I’ll guess the number of completely innocent human beings killed by these animals will go up significantly in the near future.
Good one PROCON...

I know the answer....but at times, it makes me wonder why God doesn’t show Himself more powerful. You know....strike Planned Parenthood offices with lightning bolts, drop abortion doctors dead in their tracks, cause pro-death protesters to burst into flame, that kind of thing.
Jonah chapter 4 actually addresses the idea of caring more about non-human things than human lives, so it’s not a new concept. Jonah was worked up because a plant died, then God confronts him about caring so much for a thing he had nothing to do with while hoping for disaster on 120,000 people in the city of Ninevah.
Sure. It is part of the get rid of 7 billion people so that Mother Earth can have only 500 million people. They think the earth can only sustain 500 million, so it is easy to come to the conclusion that the loss of human lives to save a lion, tree, or turtle is worth it.
One story has nothing to do with the other. I’m finding the conflation rather tiresome.
As a Believer in Jesus Christ, I am not the one bit worried about those coming times. In fact, the Bible makes it crystal clear that in the FIRST three and one-half years of the Tribulation period, after the Anti-Christ signs the seven year peace treaty with Israel, that ONE point SEVEN BILLION people will die. It says 1/4th. With around 7.3 or so billion, that is about 1.75 Billion people dying in the first three and 1/2 years of the Trib. Everyone will be thinking that the Anti-Christ is bringing peace to the world, but this makes it clear that the world will be at war, probably nuke war that can kill those types of numbers. I firmly believe Scripture says that Christ will come for His Bride, the Church BEFORE the Trib begins. Scripture is clear on that. Some like to cherry pick a line here and there and make a different view of it, but Paul makes it clear that we will be gone before those times hit this world. So, I am not worried as my Savior will come for us and we will be out of here. The ones who deny the pretribulation rapture of the Church call it escapism. But I don’t call it that. I call it expectancy of the LORD’s appearing in the clouds as He promised. So, if you are not a Believer, please consider Him. Call on His name and be saved my friend. Then you have, as the guy used to say on TV, “No worries man.”
Should have known it was Chesterton. Great quote.
