SALT LAKE CITY The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement today after a vote on a policy change by the Boy Scouts of America National Executive Board to admit openly gay leaders:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is deeply troubled by todays vote by the Boy Scouts of America National Executive Board. In spite of a request to delay the vote, it was scheduled at a time in July when members of the Churchs governing councils are out of their offices and do not meet. When the leadership of the Church resumes its regular schedule of meetings in August, the century-long association with Scouting will need to be examined....
...Thr admission of openly gay leaders is inconsistent with the doctrines of the Church and what have traditionally been the values of the Boy Scouts of America.
As a global organization with members in 170 countries, the Church has long been evaluating the limitations that fully one-half of its youth face where Scouting is not available. Those worldwide needs combined with this vote by the BSA National Executive Board will be carefully reviewed by the leaders of the Church in the weeks ahead.

Trail Life USA, the traditional alternative.
If I had children they would not be entrusted to the “care” of known homosexuals or any other sexual deviants.
Maybe a more sound version of the Scouts will come about as a result of this drive toward deviance on the part of a few “enlightened” fools.

LDS needs to reevaluate polygamy. It is legal — RIGHT NOW!!
this is sad. How political correctness and bullies killed the boy scouts.
I sure wouldn’t allow my son to become a Boy Scout now. To do so would be child abuse.
Other than the obvious mass exodus from the BSA, what say you about this article?
There are 4 family members whose names are on the Dallas Eagle Scout monument. Wish I could remove them - I think they all would be dismayed at the change in Scouting over the last few years.
Look no further than Bro. Wayne M. Perry.
He helped open the barn doors...
This Lutheran will definitely walk away from that once great and useful organization.
Not compatible with LDS teachings...

As an Eagle Scout: Different group then, don’t condemn Baden-Powell’s dream for the perversion that replaced it.
There's nothing challenging or complex about the proper response to the BSA's surrender to political correctness, just get your boys out of the BSA and don't look back.
The BSA has chosen to become just another formerly wholesome American institution that is kowtowing to what is being touted by the media as the majority's sudden embrace of abominable sexual deviancy that has been recognized by all normal people in every nation on earth as wicked and deserving severe punishment. God Himself hates it so much that according to the 1st ch of Romans He sent a universal flood onto the ancient world to stamp it out.
If sodomy was grossly sinful for the antediluvians, and it was, God hasn't changed His laws just for modern day America.
I thought so last week.
...better run it by Hatch first....
The LDS held the purse strings over the BSA for many years. Thousands upon thousands of “ghost” members being paid for by the LDS giving what is essentially “free” money to the BSA.
Wayne M. Perry, a mormon who was National President of the BSA in 2013, traveled to SLC just before the youth membership policy change was up for debate/vote.
It is coincidental that upon his return, the BSA proceeded with the purported vote and more than 2/3’s of the “delegates” voted to enact the change in direct opposition to the 2/3’s of the membership surveyed (whom the “delegates” were purported to represent) who rejected the proposed change.
Up until this time, the LDS had helped stem the tide.
IOW, my disappointment with LDS run Scouting aside, the LDS had considerable financial influence 2 years ago to possibly stop this...once the youth membership policy domino fell, it was inevitable that adults would follow.
I must now contact my Wood Badge Course Director for the Fall course I am the SPL in and consult with him as to my continued participation...I am working with a large contingent of LDS Scouters on this course, targeted to LDS leaders.
To say I am disappointed in BSA’s decision is an understatement, although not a surprise.
The LDS will probably hold out for a while, but the homofascists are not going to stop. They’ve already indicated that the religious exemption undercuts the decision.
I imagine the LDS will probably expand their Duty to God program that is currently their religious award and modify it to some extent to include more Scouting related activities in some fashion.
I expect the Catholic Church to do the same thing even though they aren't nearly as anti-queer as the LDS.
The BSA has nothing without church sponsorship, it will be a thing of the past shortly.
