After a gunman opened fire in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater last week, killing two people and injuring nine others, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is pushing back against repeated calls to strengthen gun control legislation.
"These are sick people," Trump said of the shooter, John Russell Houser, who was reported to be mentally ill. "This has nothing to do with guns. This has to do with the mentality of these people."
"I'm a big Second Amendment person. You need protection," the presidential hopeful added in a CNN interview Sunday. "This person from what I hear had a record of mental instability. If it's proven and documented you have to be careful to not let them kill people. He had the kind of record where he should be in an institution. He's a sick puppy."
Trump referenced another recent gun massacre in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where four Marines were killed, to argue against increasing gun control measures.
"With the Marines, that was disgraceful," Trump said. "These are people who know how to use guns better than anybody. And they're not allowed to carry guns, and this guy shot them...If they would have had their guns, they probably would all be alive right now."(continued)

The arguments are so strange. He’s a conservative “now” out of convenience? He’s been taking constant flaming crap from all sides and lost business partners. How is that convenient?

What you said.
And for the record, I claimed back then it’s a she, not a he. I think the name is a beard.
The words and phrases, and even conclusions, are more of a feminine type.

Trump's positions in 2012: Trump believes that assault weapons should be banned "There's no actual source on this attribution besides a website."
"Give me the publication date and actual source and I will paypal you 20$. If you can't find it, you need to stop spreading lies."
He won't bet, won't pay, and will not stop the lying.
So there ya have it.

Btw, I’d believe that. Some of these folks have male sounding monikers, yet their writing style, easily offended demeanor, choice of terminology and thin skin, screams female.
Of course on the flip side, biggov schools have turned the last generation or two into makeup wearing metros complete with female voices and mannerisms. gak...

Third parties are a waste of a vote and they get the greater of two evils elected. You know what's a waste of a vote?
Voting for Republicans.
I voted straight Republican in 2014 and they are acting JUST like Democrats.
I think if I'm going to waste my vote, it might as well be for a wild card.

McCain’s flight instructor tried several times to get him kicked out of the program because he was going to get someone killed. McCain was a dumbass hot shot who hit his afterburners on the Forrestal to mess with the guy behind him. McCain killed 134 men that day. Nobody in his squadron liked him. As Trump said he was at the bottom of his class. I’ve met McCain and he is a dip shit. A very smarmy, self-absorbed little monster of a man who thinks everything he does and says is brilliant when he is actually just box of rocks stupid. His wife was smoking hot a few years back when I met them, I got the impression she hung out in Arizona and he was never around and stayed in DC.
Notice how McCain stepped back when Trump hit back? That’s because McCain cannot stand up to scrutiny. His history is mostly BS. McCain is still within range of being swift boated.

"With the Marines, that was disgraceful," Trump said. "These are people who know how to use guns better than anybody. And they're not allowed to carry guns, and this guy shot them...If they would have had their guns, they probably would all be alive right now." Trump is exactly correct!! It is a disgrace that the very men and women who defend our country are disarmed when they come home.
It is a further disgrace that Obama arms so-called "rebels" in Syria while taking away guns from the very men and women in our military, who I'm sure are far more proficient than anyone else, leaving them completely defenseless here at home.
I don't know what Trump's stance on guns up to this point has been, but he sure doesn't sound like a gun grabber to me. If anything he sounds like the exact opposite.

I just laugh when I read this stuff, because I think back to the times when I wished we had a guy that was doing exactly what Trump is now. Ditto that. One would think that any Republican consultant would be looking at what Trump is doing right now, and how he's resonating with large swath's of the American people across both party lines and would've figured out by now they need to emulate Trump.
Nope. Not a bright, enterprising, or smart Republican Consultant or Candidate in the current crop. Not a one.

Well I can't argue with that. In an earlier post I said voting Republican is becoming harder & harder to justify. That doesn't change the fact that had we not gotten some Republicans in there it might be even worse than it is, though I must admit it escapes me as to how it could be.
What needs to change, badly and soon, is the Republican leadership. They are worthless POS's. Get the right leaders and the rank & file might be more accommodating to the conservative point of view.

I realize you are new to FR but it has long been our tradition here to refrain from personal attacks.
We would appreciate your help in keeping the discussions centered on facts and philosophy.
Proust challenged you to back up your contention with reasonably sourced information. I went to your link and all I can find is another un-sourced contention.

McCains flight instructor tried several times to get him kicked out of the program because he was going to get someone killed.
I've read the old letter his flight insturctor had written regarding McCain. Today when you do a search for it, you'll find a different letter all over the internet. That's not the original.
I remember the instructor talking about his crash into the bay. I also read his comments about McCain only being made to carry out 2 of the 6 required deck landings for certification.
The comment about him trying to get McCain kicked out, doesn't stick in my mind, but the letter was a little over a page long, so that very well could have been in there too. I just don't recall that part.
McCain was a dumbass hot shot who hit his afterburners on the Forrestal to mess with the guy behind him. McCain killed 134 men that day.
This is something I've never been able to verify. It fits with McCain's character. He was a smart ass flash in anger type of individual. He was before. He was afterwards. He still is today. He never grew up. He never applied himself. Here he was on the Forestal having flown only five missions when that incident took place.
If he did do a wet start or whatever they call it, it would certainly be like him to do that. The official record says the problem started across the deck from him. I have no way of knowing if that was true or if the record was sanitized for McCain's benefit.
It's certainly interesting that he was involved at all. And them admitting he was involved even at a distance, makes me wonder if the distance was really zero feet and zero inches from him. If he did start that incident, I would agree with your comments regarding his responsibility for the loss off every life. Not being able to verify, it leaves me unable to agree to it. I will tell you that I do not dismiss this. One day we may know more. I want to know the truth, even if it vindicates him. I despise the guy, but I don't want to charge him with something he didn't do..
Nobody in his squadron liked him. As Trump said he was at the bottom of his class. Ive met McCain and he is a dip shit.
This may be true. Again, I'm not postitive of it. His own comments come pretty close to verifything this though. That's the thing about McCain. He seems to have this belief that if he tells a sanitized version, it will prevent others from telling their side of it. So what he does is come right up to the verge of saying it all, but stopping just short. What that tells me, is that the situation was ripe for the other versions to have been true. Consider this from his book. I did not enjoy the reputation of a serious pilot or an up-and-coming junior officer. That's how he described himself in his book, "Faith of My Fathers"
Here's an interesting site. I don't know how much of it is true, but the guy seems to give a pretty even handed presentation. Did McCain Show the Right Stuff? The guy doesn't seem to make outlandish claims. I read it last week, and don't remember him doing so. You and others can read it and make of it what you will.
A very smarmy, self-absorbed little monster of a man who thinks everything he does and says is brilliant when he is actually just box of rocks stupid. Well, that's my view of him from a distance. I've watched his behavior and actions for many years..
His wife was smoking hot a few years back when I met them, I got the impression she hung out in Arizona and he was never around and stayed in DC. That has been my thought too, but this is not something I have first hand knowledge about. She does look very pretty on television. His demanor makes me feel sorry for her. I hope her life is good.
Notice how McCain stepped back when Trump hit back? Thats because McCain cannot stand up to scrutiny. His history is mostly BS. McCain is still within range of being swift boated. Would suit me just fine, if it's warranted.
