Belittling a longtime senator's military service is usually a good way to end a political campaign. In Donald Trump's case, a new set of polls out from NBC/Marist Sunday morning suggest it's not stopping the business mogul's rapid rise in the GOP field.
In New Hampshire, Trump comes in first with 21 percent; his closest competitor is Jeb Bush, who's at 14 percent. Scott Walker comes in third with 12 percent, then John Kasich at 7 percent, Chris Christie and Ben Carson at 6 percent and Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz at 5 percent.
And in Iowa, where Trump made his now-infamous comments about McCain earlier this month, the business mogul comes in a close second to Walker. Walker takes 19 percent in the poll, compared with Trump at 17 percent. They're followed by Bush (12 percent), Carson (8 percent), Huckabee (7 percent) and Rand Paul (5 percent).
The pair of polls were taken just as Trump was questioning McCain's war hero status at a GOP cattle-call event in Iowa. There, his support actually rose (within the margin-of-error) after he made the comments: he was getting 16 percent in the interviews conducted beforehand, compared with 18 percent in the ones done after. (The comments do seem to have hurt him in New Hampshire, though not enough to take him out of first place: he was getting 26 percent in the interviews before his McCain comments, compared with 14 percent afterward.)

NH is made for Trump.
WTH happened to NH? Ugh.
Then he woke up the political world.
My hope is that he stays in all this long enough to totally squash Jeb’s hope of the nomination. Jeb’s defeat even before the convention is JOB ONE for conservatives, IMO>
The added benefit is that we are coming to know who our amnesty/pathway equivocators are, too.
After the second republican debate....if Trump is still pulling big numbers...the ‘crew’ is screwed. It’ll be just Cruz, Trump and Scott Walker from January on.
Carly Fiorina as Vice President
Department of Foreign Affairs, (change the name back.) - Ted Cruz
Department of Justice - Trey Gowdy
Department of Treasury Steve Forbes
Department of War, (change the name back.) - LTC. West
Department of Interior, (includes former Agriculture, and Transportation functions) - Gov. Palin
Department of Labor and Commerce (includes former Energy legitimate functions) Gov. Walker
Department of Health and Human Services, (includes VA functions) Doctor Benjamin Carson
Department of Homeland Security Gov. Martinez
Department of Education - ELIMINATE
Department of Housing and Urban Development ELIMINATE
Military service??
Howsabout what he did AFTER HE GOT BACK TO THIS COUNTRY???
POW’s (who are they, what about the rest—and why should I care?)
Mehhiccan ‘Border’ (What’s that?)
Illegals? (Bring ‘em in!)
Barry O? (he would make a good president!)
He’s got a serious organization there...campaign chairmen in each county. He will have that in Iowa shortly if he doesn’t already.
Wow. Beautiful!
The added benefit is that we are coming to know who our amnesty/pathway equivocators are, too.
So true.
I wish someone would start talking about the muslim “refugees” being dumped on us too.
Jeb’s just running on name recognition so far. He’s dull as dishwater.
Nice list. I would put Bobby Jindal as head of HHS. That was his forte here in La.
Mr Opportunist--the flailing Cruz--also collapsed after stupidly trying to latch onto the soaring Trump aura.
Stupid Perry collapses AFTER saying Trump was a "cancer" on the GOPe.
(Perry and Cruz disintegrated to 2% in some polls).
But I thought trump was done according to rinos and dems. LOL.
This man is the Energizer Bunny. I guess all those billions helps him sleep well at night.
Keep pumping up the volume Donald - you’ve got the big mo on your side now...
Since the first H is Health I thought of Dr. Carson. Don’t know much about Jindal.
The NH poll results have been embargoed by other NH polls for 3 weeks. Trump took the lead in NH after the July 4th weekend.
Crap, this contest may be sown up much sooner than ANYONE expected. If Trump does well in the first debate, it’s pretty much over for the others.
What will be interesting is the Democrat side, with Obama now having targeted Hillary for removal as the candidate (by allowing the E-Mail investigation to proceed) - will the Democrats now have an all-out brawl?
I’d still like to see Cruz as VP, but maybe in Trump’s second term (we need him in the Senate for now).
At a recent In Defense of Christians event, Cruz was booed off the stage.....he demonstrated his appalling ignorance of the plight of Christians in the middle east.
The obsessively-opportunistic Cruz used the audience's goodwill to promote his agenda, rather than comment on Christians' plight....he was booed off the stage.

BACKSTORY: Is the Canadian-born Sen Ted Cruz really a Washington outsider or just another neocon establishment player willingly following the globalist agenda?
Back in 2014 a writer questioned the opportunistic Cruzs self-proclaimed outsider status....in light of his background as a Harvard-trained lawyer who worked for George W. Bush and Congressman John Boehner.
The writer also mentioned Cruzs wife Heidis banking and Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) affiliations: "Cruzs wife Heidi is a Goldman Sachs Regional Manager, which is a little unnerving, given the massive bailouts and their involvement with the Federal Reserve in deflating our currency and killing our economy.
Heidi was also a member of a CFR task force that produced a report in 2005 called Building a North American Community. Cruz himself once referred to the CFR as a pernicious nest of snakes working to undermine US sovereignty. This apparently includes his wife.
The CFR is a Rockefeller-funded group that is said to be occupied with the task of promoting the acceptance of global governance by Americans. Members there have written about why Americans must give up some of their sovereignty for a new order.
CFRs North American Union, many believe, would indeed undermine the sovereignty of The United States.
Cruz is a recipient of over $106,000 from foreign pro-war lobbies, and once suggested that pro-abortion Democrat ex- Senator Joseph Lieberman would make a good Secretary of Defense. Lieberman himself has taken more than $2.2 MILLION from pro-war lobbies, the most of any US Senator.
This proclivity to support war, is said by many pundits to be spawning the New World Order abroad.....perhaps a Police State at home.
