FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. (multiple votes using multiple internetz devices are allowed!) And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
So you favor gun control in that you would allow people to bear arms only as long as they hide it or do it in private?
Is that your position?
Concealed carry simply gives a predator a false sense of security when they attack you on the street. If you open carry you are much less likely to be attacked in the first place.
Further, when you open carry, the people around you are much less likely to be attacked since everyone can see that there is a citizen with a gun nearby.
Yes
Yes!
This is why I just went to the XDs 9mm from a full frame XDM .40 cal. Now if I have my AR you will see it as it will not fit in my pants.
I would have preferred a 12 gauge pumpgun.
Well, they slanted the poll by splitting the yes vote between 2nd Amendment & self defense.
Do they think people that open carry for something other than self defense? Maybe the extra weight of gun & ammo helps them keep in shape?
The 2nd A simply grants that right - bearing arms means carrying arms openly or concealed.
Then they failed to openly label the results, leading some (morons) to assume it is an anti-2A result. You have to click each result which is unnecessary on a nearly empty panel. IT pros don’t bury essential info behind mouse clicks when there is plenty of room on the screen to display them.
Still, some at MSNBC vomited, got the chills, & had to take some personal time off.
YES!!!
It is my supposition.
I will not open carry.
I don’t know where you live but I will bet its not New Jersey
So you don’t think a person should be allowed to carry a weapon at the beach? And you don’t think that people should be allowed to carry a shotgun or a long barrelled revolver since you can’t really conceal either of those?
When the 2nd Amendment was passed, children used to carry their muskets to school so they could pick up some varmint for dinner on the way home. I suppose you would have made that practice illegal in 1789, huh?
People who carried their weapons around didn’t generally try concealing their weapons until the 20th Century.
And now you want to make it mandatory that anyone who carries a weapon must hide it from view.
Kinda like in Iran if you want to carry a Bible, you’d better hide it from view, eh? Yeah in Muslim countries they have concealed carry for bibles and other religions books.
YES: 189K 91%
No: 12K 6%
Only for self Defense: 7,460 4%
And police, and military, and security guards, and law abiding citizens.
” If you open carry you are much less likely to be attacked in the first place.”
I think we have to disagree on that one. Open carry draws unnecessary attention to the carrier and may bring on an attack by someone wanting to take your weapon. I support open carry but I don’t think its the best way.
The Riot Act has been adopted by many states. Libel and slander definitely limit speech and properly so. Further, there is criminal libel though its enforcement may be way down. As far as your statement that the first amendment states congress shall not limit freedom of speech, apparently you have not heard of “the Incorporation Doctrine.”
Bad examples. The underage criminals are already carrying guns, the people who have mental problems can still manage to get guns and the data on decades of concealed-carry laws doesn't reveal any particular problem related to drunken behavior. The worst of your fears are already reality, but it has nothing to do with the rest of us choosing to carry firearms (because we're worried about the criminals and the crazies, too).
Yes, it would have a tendency of turning folks into (somewhat) polite ladies and gentlemen.
Amen and amen. It needs to be choice. After all if a woman has a choice, to callously do in her offspring, why not men and women with the choice for self protection. Seems fair to me.
Whose? Yours, mine, the idiot in the White Hut?
“I know, I know it is all a dream towns never learned to limit the carrying of guns within their town limits; Wild Bill was never shot in a bar; the Gun Fight at the OK corral never happened. You people are unreal. ALL Constitutional Rights are subject to the rule of common sense. Free speech is limited by laws of libel and slander; Religion was limited by forbidding polygamy in the 1880’s; assembly by “The Riot Act”. Not everyone should be allowed to carry a gun. We have had recent examples. Do you really believe every drunk, and nut should carry a gun?”
Humm, you want to limit who should be allowed to carry a gun. That is straight from Obama as he also wants to limit people who can have a gun, so who is going to make the rules for having a gun - you or Obama? The constitution is the ultimate rule, but you and Obama want to change that.
Obama, about two/three weeks ago, told his Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, to search out Veterans and the elderly who THEY think should not have a gun and put them on the “YOU CAN'T HAVE A GUN” list (no that is not the name of the forbidden to have a gun list but it should be), so they can't buy one.
This new emphasis to prevent these people from getting a gun, starts in earnest in November. From what you said, you are in favor of this - preventing people from buying a gun based on whatever criteria “you” want.
I have CCL for the last four years and have not had to pull it out, thank G_D. If you squire your shoulders and look them in the eyes they will back down. Most are like dogs and can smell fear. No fear, you know something they don’t know.
