**Artist Showcase**
Genesis are an English rock band formed in Godalming, Surrey in 1967, with Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips and Chris Stewart as founding members. The band has had numerous line-ups throughout its history, of which eleven musicians became full time members. Its most recent formation comprised two founding members — keyboardist Tony Banks and bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford — and drummer/singer Phil Collins, who joined in 1970. Genesis are one of the best selling music artists of all time with 21.5 million certified units sold in the US and approximately 130 million albums worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Borodin: String Quartet in D, Second Movement

Alex Borodin was a doctor and pharmacist by day, and a composer by night. He left behind a fine collection of works in several genres. This slow movement from his second string quartet ended up in a Broadway musical, but here is the original.

Schubert: French Divertimento for Piano 4-Hands, D. 823, Second Movement

Schubert intended this to be his Sonata in E minor for Piano 4-Hands, but the publisher had a different idea. The second movement is a set of theme and variations that has been arranged over the years for a variety of instruments. It’s fascinating how Schubert can make a major key melody even sadder than a minor key melody.

This video features Orion Weiss and Anna Polonsky, who met and played at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, and married. They are exploring the piano 4-handed repertory, and I’ve suggested a possible performing edition for the Sonata in A minor for Piano 4-Hands that Schubert left unfinished at the end of his short life. Watch how this couple works together.

I am more than ready for Lance to go back!!!I’ve been busy, cleaned the gutters [they had not been done in years], put up a clothes line/s did a few loads of laundry, hanging a new door [after I turn it into a “Dutch style” door] and a million other little chores that have to be done before fall arrives.

Brahms: Symphony #1 in C minor, Op. 68, Third Movement

This was a huge hit for Brahms who waited until he was 43 to produce a symphony that could challenge Beethoven. While Brahms tends to a bit ponderous at times, this intermezzo is fleet of foot.

To: Soaring Feather

Good evening, Ms Feather...*hugs*...things seem better tonight. At bedtime, when she’s settled, I’ll ask if anyone was inside. I know she saw men working in the backyard...she has for months, but I never made any connection.

We talked before I left for work....”no one can get in, everything is locked, just tell them you know your eyes are playing tricks, so go away”. Tomorrow I’m taking her for a ride when I do errands. Tonight she says she wants to go...we will see in the morning.

Did you get some porch time today?
