Ted Cruz on the Senate floor: Mitch McConnell’s a liar and our new majority is a cronyist fraud
Hot Air ^ | 7/24/15 | Allahpundit

I’m not going to excerpt it for you, despite the length. You need to watch it all; if you can’t spare 20 minutes, at least watch the middle third where he gets into corporate cooptation of the one-party state. This is one of the most brutal attacks — not incorrect, mind you, just brutal — you’ll ever see by a senator on his colleagues, starting with his own majority leader. Sample quote: “[This majority] does get things done, but it listens to one and only one voice: That is, the voice of the Washington cartel, of the lobbyists on K Street, of the big money and big corporations.” This guy is talking about his own caucus.

Nominally, this speech is about McConnell’s betrayal of opponents of the Ex-Im bank and his Reid-esque procedural scam to block conservative amendments that could have jeopardized the Iran deal. What it really is, of course, is a campaign commercial for Cruz 2016 aimed at all the Trump voters he covets but who prefer someone (for the moment) who stands outside the political class. This is Cruz’s way of showing them that not only is he willing to throw punches at the establishment too, he hits much harder than Trump does. The unspoken point is, “If you detest Washington and its endless corrupt excrescences, why would you support him instead of me?” Good question. I have no idea.

I wonder what Cruz is planning to do career-wise if his presidential campaign falls short. It’s hard to imagine him hanging around the Senate for decades, as it’ll be an even lonelier place for him after this than it already was. I assume he has his eye on a seat on an appellate court somewhere, either at the circuit level or SCOTUS itself, once a Republican’s back in the White House. Alienating the people who vote to confirm federal judges is an … interesting strategy, but maybe Cruz figures that a Senate Republican majority would be too scared of the base to reject him. Even if you dislike his style politically, there’s no question he’d be a staunch conservative as a judge. You deny the right another Scalia on the bench at your peril.

The GOP is more effective when it is the minority party.

For the life of me I just don’t understand why Cruz isn’t polling a lot higher.

I won’t share on Face Book, because I don’t agree with the editorial.

I don't see how anyone would give credit to Trump

Because Cruz was losing his voice and his support after those very bad trade deal negotiations and being played. Cruz got out there, acknowledged that he was warned that he'd be betrayed and made clear how that works in DC. It was a very Trump-like speech....annihilate those who cross you, praise those who don't.

I hope someone in the HOR stands up in the same fashion. Put it to the reps who are willing to compromise with Boehner because they're afraid of being punished. I'd wager 80% of people outside of DC hate Boehner....pols would be idolized if they stood up to be counted!

The people who regulate the press have huge control over polls, and not just those that precede elections.

Cruz has little exposure, little name recognition, and what exposure he gets is misleading and tends to cast him in a negative light.

The public at large is less politically astute, and dumber than a box of hammers, bless their hearts, they are (mostly) good people, but they are functionally "sheep."

I heard Rush interview Cruz after his speech. That interview was awesome. My computer is crashing when I go to the site, will have to listen to his Senate floor speech later on my kindle. Loved the interview with Rush, even took the long way home so I could hear it all. Go, Cruz!

Trump is taking points from the conservatives in the race.
But I would like to see all the Conservatives back the Truth that Cruz said today in the Senate.

Time for Conservative to rise up and Ditch Mitch the Pussy.

Mitch McConnell’s a liar and our new majority is a cronyist fraud

Cruz is right. It's all about big money and a lifestyle that goes with it. You and me? We're nothing but tax slaves being regulated like cattle.

That's what we've been trying to warn people about at least since the last election - the good ol boys club.
(There is no "Two party system.")

They tell us they're "working in a bipartisan manner". They're doing things "For our own good". "Can't we all just get along?"
What they're doing is working together to protect their OWN mansions. THEIR world wide vacations. THEIR imported caviar. THEIR luxury jests. THEIR Delmonico steaks. THEIR thousand dollar hookers.
Harry Reed blew that whistle when he said he could "smell" the tourists - the unwashed, ignorant, disgusting, repulsive slaves coming to Washington to tour.

My respect for Cruz has increased exponentially. Reminded me of Mr. Smith goes to Washington. It is time the country class takes back our government from the political class.

Awesome speech. He just blew up his career — or else made it.

I am not a supporter of Cruz, but I take my hat off to him here: this is the speech of a statesman and a patriot.

For the life of me I just don’t understand why Cruz isn’t polling a lot higher.

The media is using Trump to keep the best candidates unknown and the population busy until the Republicrats can think of a way to take out the other candidates "gracefully". They must have spent hours asking McCain what he thinks for crying out loud! Who cares????
Trust me. Voting really doesn't matter. "Jeb" has already been chosen. Mark my words. He's already our Republican candidate. In fact, he's already the next president (which is why he isn't worried) . There is no "Two party system." They all work together. The rest is an illusion - a theater - to make us believe our voices "matter."

I salute my candidate Sen. Ted Cruz with these lines by A. Bierce”

“Courageous fool! The peril’s strength unknown.
“Courageous man! So conscious of your own.

Going to salute Ted with some additional cash, too.

CRUZ or lose!

This may be one of those turning point speeches. It’s one thing for Jim Robinson, Eric Erickson, or Mark Levin to say it, it’s another for a senator.

It's comical to me that some Freepers think it took Trump to bring Cruz out swinging. Cruz has been going to the Supreme Court for years as Solicitor General of Texas, preserving our liberties and winning in the Supreme Court.

He has done the same thing since he's been in the Senate. This present speech in the Senate, is no different than others, and this is why the Senate “get along, don't make waves”, Senators cringe when he gets up to speak.

On one thread, a Freeper said he won't get on any important committee after this, that McConnell will put him in charge of sweeping up the floor in the Senate. There is no way Cruz will shut up in order to get on a committee. That is what is wrong there - senators don't take any action McConnell or other establishment Senators don't want taken for fear of the reprisal against them.

Frankly, my dear, Cruz doesn't give a damn (as Clark Gable said in “Gone With the Wind”).

Let me break this down for y’all.

Trump and Cruz possess the power to destroy the legacy of political elite frauds.

...and their wielding it!

For the life of me I just don’t understand why Cruz isn’t polling a lot higher.

There is no two pary system. It's just one big totalitarian state. Cruz is not the chosen one. The PTB have already decided. "Jeb" is going to be president. The voters won't be able to stop that.
No ome wanted obomacare. No one in Washington did anything to stop it. Nothing at all. It was chosen for us.
No one wanted homo marraige. No one tried to stop that, either. Crickets. It was chosen for us.
Do you really think they'd let you choose the next president if you have no choice when it comes to anything else? Really?

“For the life of me I just don’t understand why Cruz isn’t polling a lot higher.”

Wait until the debates begin to bring out how well the candidates will do. Cruz will be at the top.
