U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on Tuesday said it will no longer require incoming U.S. citizens to pledge that they will "bear arms on behalf of the United States" or "perform noncombatant service" in the Armed Forces as part of the naturalization process.
Those lines are in the Oath of Allegiance that people recite as they become U.S. citizens. But USCIS said people "may" be able to exclude those phrases for reasons related to religion or if they have a conscientious objection.

Any guesses on how long it will be before this will be replaced with a pledge to take up arms against other American citizens when the need arises?

They do, however, have to take an oath to participate in gay “marriage” celebrations.

murdering non-believers is “related to religion” also..
is that now to be a reason not to convict or deport for a felony ???

Not that congress matters anymore, but where does USCIS get the authority to unilaterally change the oath?

where does USCIS get the authority to unilaterally change the oath? They see every other branch of the government doing it, from the President on down to EPA/ICE/Justice/name-your-favorite-alphabet-soup-agency, none of which follow the laws of the country, rather their own whims (or the President's whims).

"Not that congress matters anymore" They really don't matter anymore do they. Look at the treaty with Iran, the president totally skipped the Senate and brought the treaty to the UN without Senate approval. Not a pip from the GOP controlled house or Senate. O should just disband the worthless Congress and sent them all home. Think of the money we would save.

Having them promise to not bear arms *against* the US might be better than nothing, but then there’s taqiyah.
