Dan Rather is coming to your local movie theater. At least the story behind why he’s no longer at CBS is. In “Truth,” Robert Redford plays Rather. Cate Blanchett plays his CBS producer Mary Mapes.
In 2004, Rather reported that President George W. Bush’s powerful father arranged to keep his son in the National Guard to prevent serving in Vietnam. The report caused such hoo-hah that a treasured 24-year anchorman lost his job.
Dan: “I’ve read the script. It’s serious. People behind it do a good job. It’s two great actors. You couldn’t want for a better cast. Redford playing me makes me feel humble — which is not a word usually associated with anchors.

Ironic as it is entirely based on a lie Rather reported as truth and was debunked on these pages.

If Robert Redford, the washed up former pretty bou cum tree hugger, is in this movie, it’s crap. I won’t go near it.
Dan Rather can’t handle the truth. He is living a lie and has been ever since he fell for this scam.
He just won’t stop until he has disgraced himself again and again and again and again.
Get a clue, Dan. No one cares about Bush anymore. They don’t even care about you anymore.
And a cast of 1,000’s.
Anything to do with Dan Rather or Robert Redford is trash, a waste of money, and better time could be had taking your family to the local park....
Robert Redford is paying Dan Rather? How much did Rather pay for that?
In order to keep him happy, it would either have to portray the fake memos as authentic or to portray a conspiracy in which the GOP plants fake memos to discredit him.
How appropriate.... Truth. The russian word= PRAVDA. And you know only true latter day bolsheviks could wrap themselves around a movie that re-writes and re-promotes the absolutely proven LIE that is Dan Rather.
You know, no one wants to touch the analysis by world experts on obamaumaos bc... that it simply can. not. be.
Because that too, would be the real truth.

If Rather is being played by Robert Redford, and Mary Mapes is being played by, um, anyone who doesn’t look like her, not to put too fine a point on it, then Buckhead will be played by Anthony Hopkins, if they can get his mask from the other studio.

BTW: W was in the AIR National Guard (Air Force). Not the National Guard (Army). These clowns can never even get that right.
I knew a lot of guys who served in the ANG, NG, USMCR, Coast Guard Reserves and other branches, who never served in RVN. They were all from blue-collar families and none of them had any political connections.
The notion that W could have only been in the ANG because his daddy was connected, doesn’t wash.
And they’ll blame W for this stinker of a movie being one of the biggest flops of all time.
Remember-I called it.
Why would someone make a movie about this? It just doesn’t seem that interesting.
