"If you listen the comments in total, he's not critical of John McCain the war hero, he's critical of his Senate record," co-host Steve Doocy said. Responding and agreeing was co-host Geraldo Rivera, who was not as enthusiastic as Doocy, but did say that Trump would need to at least clarify his remarks. Later in the show, co-host Brian Kilmeade interviewed former Ronald Reagan advisor, agreeing that the situation was "blown out of proportion." Kilmeade continued to defend Trump, saying that "he went on to say 4 more times that he was a war hero." This statement was looked into closely by Politifact, and they concluded that "Trump literally said McCain is a hero five times, but never without caveats," and rated the claim "Mostly False."
With Fox News hosting the first Republican presidential primary debate on August 6, having Trump on the stage is important. With Trump currently leading in the most recent national polls, it doesn't come as a surprise to see Fox News continuing to legitimacy his candidacy with a sure ratings grabber just two weeks away.

The media lies about what Republicans say. Glad that Sen Cruz did not join the bash Trump bandwagon.
Megyn will play whatever angle gets the most ratings. Have you not noticed? But regardless she is seldom boring.
TNMOUTH, do not get your hopes up very high. Doocy and Kilmeade are from the conservative half crowd on Fox News.
Were it not for Trump, no one would face the immigration problem. The other candidates lack the courage.
F&F must not have gotten the talkingpoints from the executive offices this morning.
By the time Hemmer’s program was on, it was full-blown pound-on-Trump,
RNC can not afford to knock Trump out of debates. Because that means Trump is out of GOP and he runs 3rd party. Then, hello president Hillary.
What the GOPe will do instead, is gang attack on Trump during debates, in the hope of driving down his poll numbers.
Please see post #23.
Wanna see McCain, GOPe, MSM, Democrats REALLY go nuts? The Donald should have his organization negotiate behind the scenes for the return of the hostages in Iran. Then, when the guys show up on American soil, ‘splain who did the negotiation.
I understand that private individuals, corporations, etc., are free to negotiate in these matters (true?), even though the Muslim in the White Hut won’t permit the government to do it.
I sent the idea to the Trump site today, although, I suspect they’ve already thought of it.
It’s too soon to decide if Trump should be The Candidate, but for now I’m enjoying the others being on the defensive, compliments of Trump, for once.
Fox spent all day Sunday mostly trashing Trump for his remarks.

Same thing I observed. I made myself hoarse from screaming at the idiots on TV. Even James Rosen, who was on Media Buzz, was bashing Trump. ...I guess “journalists” have forgotten how to do research.
Exactly right! And now, thanks to Trump, the plight of our Vets (VA, etc) will be brought to light, AGAIN, as well.
#Barrycades meets #McCaincades.
LOL...
Well, I like Doocey, but I am shocked that Faux News didn’t cave.
I half expected Hannity to grovel later too.
THAT ^^ would be awesome! Glad you sent it on to the Trump folks.
Correct conclusion, wrong reason. The candidates must obey their sugar daddy rich donors, without whom they can not stay in the campaign very long. They have been under the command of COC so long, they are basically now Pavlov’s dogs. Cheap labor express is the mantra in their brains.
The GOP has helped democrats win the last two presidential elections. How? By nominating McCain and Romney. I look for them to help Hillary win the next one by nominating another Bush if not another rino.
I'm sorry you don't think this POW atrocity is important. This shameful episode has been going on for over forty years. Put yourself in the shoes of one of the families who have no idea what happened to their father, son, husband. No closure after nearly half a century, many having passed away never knowing. What could be a more important topic, I ask you?
I agree. The whole pow/mia/hostage issue is good for millions of votes.
Trump can not negotiate with Iran. Rule #1 in The Art of Deal is exploit your advantage. Private citizen Trump has no leverage over Iran. He has almost no business in Iran.
I saw a report that said Obama has already secured the release of the hostages. He and Iran are going to use that as a trump card (no pun intended) to use if the US Senate vote is close.
Yes, I see your point. This is why the GOPe, year after year, ignores the will of the American people.
