Let's see whether he helped McCain or hurt him. My guess is he helped him

Trump is hardly one to talk he has several children with three different baby mamas. He engaged in a shan marriage to Maria Maples and 67% of his wives were immigrants.

McCain was a POW, yes.
Why are his POW buddies, standing as close to him, all these years, as one stands next to a skunk?
Why are there recorded interviews by those guys that put the stink on McCain, if he was so great a POW?
Being a POW, you become a pawn, a bargaining chip, for your enemy, to use for their own means, which lacks any Webster definition of ‘hero’.
Beat up some? Yes.
Made to make apologies on film for your actions? Yes.
Act of valor? No.

Amen to that, but you’ll never convince the Trumpettes of that inconvenient little fact.

McCrap had no choice, if he had accepted the offer to go home early, what exactly would have been his career choices?

So while he's laying there, being tortured with broken bones, it wasn't duty or honor that drove him, but concern about his future job prospects. I hadn't heard that spin before.

The only person I’ve ever heard say McCain turned down the chance to be released early is McCain. Do you have facts stating otherwise?

Yes, perhaps you've heard of Admiral Stockdale:

"I consider it blasphemy to smudge the straight-arrow prisoner-of-war record of a man who was near death when he arrived at Hoa Loa prison 1967: both arms broken, left leg broken, left shoulder broken by a civilian with a rifle butt.

He was eventually taken to the same rat-infested hospital room I had occupied two years earlier, and, like me, he had surgery on his leg. By then the Vietnamese had discovered that his father was the ranking admiral in the Pacific Fleet, and he received an offer that, as far as I know, was made to no other American prisoner: immediate release, no strings attached. He refused, thereby sentencing himself to four more years in a cell.

There was a special cramped and hot privy-like structure in that Hanoi prison reserved for whichever American was causing the Vietnamese the most trouble. I was the first in the camp to be locked up in it, and I gave it the name Calcutta.

There was only room for one person at a time in the cage, and after a couple of months I was taken out and marched back to a regular cell. As I limped along, I sneaked a peek at my replacement: John McCain, hobbling along on his own bad leg."

Who are the 'fellow POWs' that besmirch John McCain. Do you have facts to back up that smear?

That’s one the only spin you fell for, he wasn’t tortured either, he sang like a songbird. Wake up.

Trump didn’t trash your precious McCain.

McCain isn't 'my precious', short of a policy speech he made after the ill considered deployment into Lebanon he has done little to curry favor with me. Insulting him doesn't bother me, and it doesn't really distract from Trump's idiotic remarks.

What he said was, being captured doesn’t make you a war hero. And tell me, how many other POWs got war hero status?

Those who made a point of resisting their captors like McCain and Stockdale are considered heroes. Do you think they are not?

He may not have served but he has been the only one out there pushing for the veterans. Others talk about improving the military but Trump is probably the most passionate about restoring our military to greatness.

He 'may not have served' is an interesting spin on a guy getting 5 separate deferments to avoid the draft...

Objectively, what has Trump proposed to do with the Department of Defense that has you so excited? Is he going to rename CVN 76 the USS Donald Trump?

> “He was offered the chance to go home, the North Vietnamese hoping to capitalize on the fact his dad was CNO, but he refused special treatment and abided by the code ‘first in, first out’.”

Your statement perpetuates a lie drawn around false heroism.

McCain was ordered to refuse as were all other POWs by Admiral Stockdale who was the Commanding Officer of all POWs inside the Hanoi Hilton. Admiral stated that no POW would go home early unless all POWs were going as well.

McCain was under a general order. It was not of his own volition. That makes all the difference.

“I have tremendous respect for McCain but I don’t buy the war hero thing. Anybody can be captured. I thought the idea was to capture them. As far as I’m concerned he sat out the war.”

Nope. Not Donald Trump. Al Franken.

Its a bitch to get treated the way you treat others.

Exactamundo, FRiend. These elitist beltway pukes like McCain have been flinging poo non stop at us folks on Main Street who dare question them. Now they get some return fire and don’t like it. Boo hoo.

They better get use to it because we’re mad as hell and not going to accept their sanctimonious duplicity any longer.

Do you have some evidence to suggest I should believe you over Admiral Stockdale when assessing what happened to McCain while held by the North Vietnamese?

I mean, you wouldn't just besmirch the man without any evidence, right? You're not that low, are you?

There is an enormous difference between “Immigrants” and “ILLEGAL ALIENS.” From what I hear, Trump’s children are a credit to him. McCain can’t say the same.

My money is on Trump. I think he has hurt McCain. We shall shortly see who is correct as soon as we clear the boards of the lying MSM and those who support the lies.

McCain is no hero.

Not everyone obeyed that order, which indicates choice was involved whether you can recognize that or not.

McCain earned special attention from his captors because he was more than merely a captive, he actively resisted. It's only from a position of ignorance about his actions after being captured, actions confirmed by Admiral Stockdale, that anyone can besmirch how McCain comported himself after capture.

Trump is being an @$$. While there is plenty to criticize McCain for, this is an unnecessary losing situation he has gotten into.

Other than that, I like Trump's plain speak.

both arms broken, left leg broken, left shoulder broken by a civilian with a rifle butt.
................................................

Let’s try it this way: Both arms were broken when he bailed out of his plane, left leg broken at the same time due to the manner in which he exited the plane, and left shoulder broken when he was captured.

The way it was written makes people believe all his injuries were the result of torture by his captors. Such was not the case....and McCain never corrected the error. If he is so lily white pure, why did he have his records sealed???????????????? Sounds incredibly like Obama, doesn’t it?
