Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry lashed out at fellow Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Sunday over offensive comments the real estate mogul made about Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
Trump questioned McCains status as a war hero over the weekend but the gaffe could cost him with an important base of Republican voters: military veterans. Perry, who served in the Air Force, called Trumps comments a bullet that went through John McCain and hit a lot of us that were in the uniform of this country.
Trump taunted McCain on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who werent captured, he said sarcastically.
Perry pounced on Trumps comments in a play for veterans votes.

It’s about time AMERICA had a real leader that tells the world how it works. Please we need a real man in the White House not a oreo, commie, raghead.
Sadly, I think that Perry---in his obsession to damage Trump in any way---has done himself more harm than good in his presidential bid by getting involved in this Trump vs. Mccain squabble, a squabble that many of us will barely remember 6 months from now. He should have stayed out of the squabble or softened his comments.
I make that statement above for this reason: Presidential candidate Perry's out of control comments concerning this Trump vs. Mccain squabble shows me that he does not possess the strong mental and decision-making skills needed to stand up to the terrorist group in Iran without blinking first in any dispute if he were elected president.
The Donald did not direct his remarks at all vets. And even if he intended to include all POWs (and it’s not clear that he did)in his statements, that would still exclude the vast majority of all veterans.
Psst, Ricky, hold that finger up to the air again because it is blowing the opposite direction from what you think. Even yahoo.com comments are on Trumps’ side.
All the GOP pantywaists especially Senator Linda Graham are calling on Al Franken to drop out of the U.S. senate in 3...2...1
Rick will not quit until the money guys tell him to.
He will then go on to be one of the high paid Lobbyist and we will never hear from him again.
I don’t think he will be getting the Fox gig after they fire Rove.
I think some people are missing the point here.
Imagine Donald talking about Putin, or the Saudis, or the English.
In business you can get away with saying stuff off the cuff and being an arrogant pr!ck.
On the international scene, thats not how its played.
Call them all wimps and long jacket wearing homos, but his antics would not play well with nations.
Love what you did for Texas Ricky - but please shut up and let Trump continue to make ‘rats heads explode.
You mean like Obama's antics play?
Go Ricky ...go AWAY!!!!
No. Reagan was a class act. Obama and Kerry are fools. Trump is an arrogant a_hole.
he cant stand the TRUTH
Just because one does not like “A”, there is not an automatic agreement of “B”. That is an old debating tool that is failed logic. Usually used by forth graders and idiots.
I’m a Vietnam Veteran, I must have missed that round going by.
Sorry Perry, your done.
It’s spelled f-o-u-r-t-h.
I’m a veteran. I didn’t feel any bullet.
Sorry, typing on the phone.
Why would anyone, besides John Kerry (who served in Vietnam) believe that veterans support Jumping Jack McCain?
I agree. The winner in this is McCain.....he is getting so much exposure and idiots don’t even realize he isn’t running. Candidates better get off McCain and onto fixing America.
Perry does not speak for me, nor did i give him license to.
