Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he does not owe John McCain an apology for saying the Arizona senator is only a war hero because he was captured.
"He's a war hero because he was captured," Trump said of McCain Saturday while at a campaign event in Iowa. "I like people who weren't captured."
Before Trump's comments, McCain had referred to those who attended a campaign event for the real estate mogul as "crazies."

In the traditional sense of the word hero, no, all those you mention were not heroes. They were probably admirable and tough and tenacious, determined and even iron-willed. They displayed many admirable characteristics, but they were more survivors than heroes.
The traditional connotation of the word hero means someone who accomplishments significant things, faced danger and succeeded in what they set out to do. In war, the heroes normally earned their heroism in battle, not in POW camps.
Most POWs probably displayed many admirable characeristics, but they were not war heroes, except perhaps under more recent definitions where anyone and everyone is a hero: every military person, every policeman, every first responder, and even athletes in the eyes of many.
Trump was right, but very politically incorrect in 2015.
You’re not a military veteran are you?
My heart goes out to McCain as a person and as a vet. That said McCain called all of us who want secure borders ‘crazies’ and I resent the crap out of that insulting comment. I'm glad Trump called him on that...
The fact McCain's a jerk sometimes - and TOTALLY WRONG - does NOT subtract for the service he gave our country or my appreciation of that service...
It also doesn't give McCain a 'pass' for the rest of his life....
It's democrats that feel either you back a person a 100% or you're against them... it's why liberal elites take such strange positions on black crime. They're terrified of saying anything bad about a person or group UNLESS they're in total condemnation mode. Of course that's one reason why democrats are such creepy lowlifes - but that's a different story.
Trump is great for changing the conversation. I am going to state this very very clearly. Look. I grew up in the most politically incorrect time around educated people who taught us to think. I equate that with liberty. See? Freedom
Freedom of speech.
Donald Trump is an American who loves this country. I heard him five years ago, not to mention, as a New Yorker, myself, a Manhattanite during the time of the beginning of his successful ventures, on the michael savage show talking about these things
I see a sincerity, I admire his success and I think he cares about the military
He does not know the military not enough to talk about POWs.
Listen. He is absolutely correct about McCain
THAT is NOT the issue
Political correctness is not the issue
I am going to continue my short point in the next post so I can have you and everyone understand what I am trying to convey and fro there I will not restate my point for anyone attempting to change my point
"...I have to tell you, he (Obama) is a decent person, and a person that you do not have to be scared as President of the United States.
This is a sideshow and we need to keep moving, as I am sure trump will do
Can’t wait to hear hiis opinion on obama’s racial justice data base on the American citizens
And yeah trump, let’s hear about some really awesome smart people you have working on cleaning out obamacare and developing a sane strategy for dealing with Iran and with Islamic fundamentalism

Eighteen months ago, TAC publisher Ron Unz discovered an astonishing account of the role the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, John McCain, had played in suppressing information about what happened to American soldiers missing in action in Vietnam. Below, we present in full Sydney Schanbergs explosive story. ..."

Youre not a military veteran are you?
“...- he could have been released but stayed with his fellow Americans in the POW camp...”
McCain actually was being self serving rather than heroic. If he had taken the NV offer he would have been forever shunned from his fellow Navy officers, and the military community at large. (Worse than he already is by the former POW community...)
BINGO - McCain owes caring American citizens an apology...
Couldn’t agree more.
There is nothing politically correct about having a rudimentary understanding about the people or group of people about whom you make a blanket statement putting them down in a disrespectful manner in order to make an insulting point about one of them
The understanding will reveal, in this case, that the one you were insulting is NOT one of the others though he has claimed to be so at the gullibility of many
The lack of rudimentary understanding of that group will reveal to them your insincerity, at least to others who observe you for reference, in claiming that you care about them
Further, your supporters will be emboldened and will continue to sling mud and insults on those asking you to appreciate that you just insulted the crapoyt of a group of stellar characters, in this case, American heroes who spent six seven or eight years being tortured for your right to BEpolitically incorrect
I’ll add that POWs are never going to succumb to political correctness but they don’t go around insulting anyone especially POWs. They are gentlemen after all
Trump likes to use his own idiosyncratic personal definitions for words. It confuses libtards and rinos when these definitions don’t match the politically correct definitions that they are used to and expect.
Every group at some time is going to be insulted. Politicians that go around apologising all the time show weakness.
Thank you. You can see by my numerous posts that I am well acquainted with McCain but you did not read nor consider that before posting, wasting my time
Next is my statement
OMG,you just made a case for PC.
Please put down the “broad brush”.
Great post. McCain is sooooo terrible. I have watched him since 80s in my state. Carpetbagger.
Yep...what you said!
